Exciting Changes Are Coming to Career Mode and AI in the Next Forza Motorsport Game.
The upcoming Forza Motorsport game will have a better progression system compared to previous Motorsport games.

Hey guys, I’ve talked about a bunch of racing games before, and I’ll drop the links to those at the end of this post.
But for now, let’s dive into the new Forza Motorsport game and all the cool changes they’re making to how you progress in the game.
What is Forza Motorsport?
Forza Motorsport is a kick-ass racing video game series. That’ll make your heart race faster than a souped-up sports car! It’s like a turbo-charged adrenaline rush for gamers who love burning rubber, screeching tires, and pushing their driving skills to the limit.
Buckle up because I’m about to take you on a wild ride through Forza Motorsport!
First, Forza Motorsport is all about giving you the ultimate racing experience from the comfort of your couch. Developed by Turn 10 Studios, it’s available on Xbox consoles and Microsoft Windows. The franchise has been around since 2005, evolving and revving its engine with each new release.
The game boasts a jaw-dropping lineup of cars that will make any auto enthusiast drool. From sleek Ferraris and Lamborghinis to vintage muscle cars and even off-road beasts, Forza Motorsport has got them all.
The attention to detail in recreating these cars is mind-blowing. You can almost feel the leather seats and hear the engines roaras you step into the driver’s seat.
But it’s not just about the cars. Forza Motorsport offers a variety of game modes to keep you hooked. Whether you’re a lone wolf looking to conquer the tracks in single-player mode or a social butterfly eager to challenge friends in multiplayer races, the game has something for everyone.
You can participate in intense races, and time trials and even compete in epic championships to prove you’re the undisputed king of the road.
One of the coolest features of Forza Motorsport is the customization options. You can tune and modify your cars to suit your racing style. Want a faster acceleration?
No problem! Need better handling around tight corners? Consider it done! From engine upgrades to body kits and paint jobs, the game lets you personalize your ride and stand out from the competition.
If you’re a car nerd, you’ll appreciate the realistic physics and mechanics in Forza Motorsport. The developers have gone to great lengths to simulate the handling, tire grip, and overall performance of each vehicle.
It’s not just about mashing the accelerator and hoping for the best; you’ll need to master the art of braking, drifting, and finding the perfect racing line if you want to come out on top.
What changes are being made in Forza Motorsport?
Forza Motorsport is making a grand return this year after about six years and a couple of Forza Horizon games. It’s one of the heavy hitters for Xbox in 2023, and I’ve been dying to know what’s new in this version.
From what I’ve seen so far, Forza Motorsport is doing some clever things to fine-tune the racing sim formula, focusing on two important areas: the gameplay loop in its career mode and the behavior of its AI drivers.
Instead of chasing money to buy upgrades, you earn credits called Car Points, which are like XP or skill points in an RPG.
With these Car Points, you can pick and choose the upgrades you want for your car without committing to them permanently. It’s not really about “buying” parts, but rather using your Car Points to equip them.
If you change your mind and switch to a better part or go back to the stock version, you get your Car Points back. It’s like respeccing your character in an RPG without any consequences. You can effectively create a “build” for your car, just like in an RPG, and spec it out without any regrets.
Imagine spending Car Points on better tires and suspension for tracks with tight corners, and then switching to engine upgrades for races with long straightaways. It could potentially reduce the grind for cash, which is often present in other racing sims.
I often found myself repeating the same races just to earn enough money for the next upgrade I needed. But with the Car Points system, it seems like I could tweak the upgrades on my current car to suit different tracks.
The Car Points system might seem like a small change, but it’s a smarter way to approach progression in a career mode. It shifts the focus to building your car properly rather than simply buying your way to victory.
The other side of Forza Motorsport’s improvements lies in the upgraded driver AI. You’ll face opponents who race more like professional drivers. The creative director, Chris Esaki, gave an example where AI drivers won’t make sloppy mistakes but instead be more cautious.
If you try to outmaneuver them in a corner, they’ll back off or slow down instead of ramming into you recklessly. They are more aware of your position and what you’re trying to do in the race.
I can’t wait to experience it firsthand when I get my hands on the game. It’s promising that the AI can replicate behaviors closer to real-life track racing. AI drivers can still be aggressive because that’s part of racing, but at least you won’t be as likely to get smashed into while going all-out in a corner for an overtake.
On top of that, Forza Motorsport now encourages skillful driving throughout the race with something called Car Mastery. The game grades you on each turn and corner you take, giving you XP based on your performance.
It’s not just about coming in the first place; skillful driving is now part of the equation. Alongside the Car Points system that pushes you to build a great car rather than buying your way to victory, the Car Mastery system challenges you to be a skilled driver and rewards you accordingly.
Other features includean updated physics simulation, dynamic weather, and a day-night cycle in the new Forza Motorsport. They’ll be showcasing plenty of other game modes in the upcoming months.
One thing to note is that anything tied to progression will require an online connection, which might upset some folks in the Forza community.
Final Words
The future of racing sims lies in these small changes that bring about significant improvements.
That seems to be the philosophy behind this new entry in Xbox’s long-running series.
We’ll finally hit the track with Forza Motorsport on October 10, 2023, available for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Can’t wait!
