Earlier today, I came across an upcoming shooter game called Hawked. This is an “Extraction” shooter with both PvP (Player vs. Player) and PvE (Player vs. Environment) elements all in one. You can kind of describe it as a sort of battle royale with PvE elements.

Hawked is being developed by Upwake. me, are based in the Netherlands and will be available on the following platforms:

  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series X/S
  • PC

The gameplay in Hawked consists of the following. Players can participate in a team or while playing solo in a hunt around an island in search of a special treasure called “Artifacts.”

Players will be met with monsters called “Disciples” as they search to collect their Artifacts. Not only will players be fighting these monsters to obtain this treasure, but also other players will want the treasure for themselves.

Whenever a player or team collects these Artifacts, they will be awarded points if it's all successfully extracted at the end of a match. Additionally, these Artifacts can provide benefits in future matches.

Not only will players be able to obtain these Artifacts from monsters but also from the players they defeat. Additionally, players will be able to obtain “Glyphs,” which can grant them access to a “Vault.”

These Vaults can also contain a large number of Artifacts. But I’m guessing it won't be easy to acquire the necessary amount of glyphs to open a Vault.

At the end of a match, the player or team with the most Artifacts wins. But interestingly, even if you don't win, the Artifacts your acquired will still grant benefits in future matches.

The in-game treasure you acquire from matches can be used to upgrade your gear as well as your abilities. Additionally, players will be able to customize their weapon load-outs and use new weapons, such as a Katana, and interesting equipment like grappling hooks.

Interestingly, players will also have more options other than just running around to traverse the map. First of all, they have the option to travel on these hovering surfboards. Additionally, players can speed through the air on a zipline.

There will be a closed alpha for Hawked starting tomorrow, which will end on the 28th of this month. Unfortunately, this alpha will only be accessible on the PC platform via Steam.
