Quintessential November Writer’s Showcase:

Welcome to All the Superheroes!

We asked our writers to share with you their favourite superheroes, their own superhero persona, their superhero fiction, antyhing superhero! And this is a collection of what they created and shared with us to share with you.

These articles are MUST READS as selected by the authors themselves!

Read. Enjoy. And perhaps you’ll even find some new favorite authors to follow on Medium.

“What Came First? The Spiderman or the Gay? — My egg-hidden inner gay trans-masc enby knew me well before I did” by KP_the_writer

As someone others perceived as ‘girl’, I was expected to like the female characters, but ‘not-really-be-all-that-into-superheros’. That never made sense to me. It still doesn’t, but at least now I can appreciate that I just enjoyed them. For me!

“The Ultimate Queerly Trans Superpower — My response to a superhero writing prompt” by 💜 Victoria Quinn 💜

Excelsior! This is a story of fantasy and whimsy, dear readers. A tale of superheroes and their superpowers. Purely personal prose of transgender longing and innate transgender potential.

“My Favorite Superpower — And No, It’s Not Selective Hearing” by Jenny Starr✨

Why did I pick this girl who was portrayed as a rather minor character (initially)? Because she embodies the one power, I have always been fascinated with — the EASY Button.

FICTION

“Earth’s Final Hour — Because even superheroes have a breaking point” by KP_the_writer

Poem from the Eviscerastion section of ‘Love, Life, and Evisceration’ by Porle Joen (also me — 2018). Recreated (with edits).

FICTION

“The captivating Gay Trans Detective series” by Sieran Lane

The story of Icarus, a gay trans detective who also just happens to be a sorcerer.

PART 1 — The Captivating Gay Trans Detective: Despite his frosty demeanor, Icarus was unparalleled when it came to solving crimes and banishing evil

PART 2 — An Unconventional Detective: “You can’t win their trust without genuinely giving them what they want, first.”

FICTION

“A Trans Superhero V. Press Conference: Who Will Win?” by Damian Pak

A length of nylon rope secured Jack’s hands to his ankles. He’d awoken propped up on the hard plastic seat of a dunk tank. Beneath him, the silver forms of piranhas.

BONUS FICTION from the Editor (because I can)

“The Superhero’s Prison — A short story about breaking free” by KP_the_writer

A short story about love, loss, and new understanding!

SNEAK PEAK: December Quintessential Showcase

For December, we will call on our writers with a challenge to, ‘but make it queer!’ As in Christmas, but make it queer. Or changing a tyre, but make it queer. Or baking cookies, but make it queer. Or Snow White, but make it queer. You get the point. Fiction and non-fiction are welcome.

QT writers — watch out for the Quintessentials on the 16th for your invitation to submit to our December showcase. Note: you DO NOT need to have your submission published with Queerly Trans nor does it need to be a new post.

From the Editor

Holy crap, it’s November!

But seriously, where has 2022 gone? Personally, I’m looking forward to 2023 but that has more to do with the fact that 23 is my favorite number. Why? Shrug! It’s a sexy prime? But 42 is my second favorite and if you don’t know why, well, um… I really don’t know what to say about that. Lol. Hmmm, we may have to do a future showcase about numbers.

In other news (not that the above was news, more of one of my patented tangents, like this one), writers, we’re simplifying everything because simply is nice. Simple is easy. And Logan and I need nice and easy, lol. So watch out for our simplified guidelines in the New Year.

Until our next edition, remember…

Something… I can’t remember what I was going to say. — KP

PUBLICATION REMINDER — ALL the Representation!

Enbyous

The non-binary publication, created and written by enbies, for enbies, genderqueer, agender, genderfuckers, gender non-conforming, and anyone else who does not prescribe to the gender binary… and our allies!

Trans Love & (A)Sexuality

Asexual/sexual perspectives from within trans & other gender expansive communities: erotica, essays, non-fiction. We can help answer each other’s questions and collectively feel less alone, while taking back our own narratives. CW: Adult content (18+); may not be safe for work.

We hope you enjoyed our showcase. On the first of every month (or close to), we’ll share with you a new showcase of wonderful reads from our writers as selected by them. Make sure you check it out as our showcases include posts you won’t find on Queerly Trans — these are the stories our writers want you to read, the ones they know you’ll love or maybe, that you need to read.
