Summary

Queerly Trans is a Medium publication that provides a platform for queerly trans and non-binary spectrum gender-fuckers to share their stories and experiences, with a focus on breaking heteronormative and transnormative narratives.

Abstract

Queerly Trans is a publication on Medium dedicated to amplifying the voices of queerly trans, non-binary, agender, and other gender-nonconforming individuals. It seeks to publish personal narratives, insights, and reflections that challenge the notion that trans individuals are inherently straight. The publication is a space for writers who have a unique understanding of the experience of 'coming out twice' or more, and it encourages them to share their own silenced voices and raise those of others within the community. Queerly Trans has specific guidelines and boundaries for submissions, including content warnings, respect for privacy and reputation, and adherence to Medium's rules. It also provides writing prompts and expects writers to interact with the editorial team with patience and understanding, recognizing that they are volunteers from the community.

Opinions

  • The publication's ideal audience is the authors themselves from the past, aiming to provide content that they wish they had access to during their own self-discovery journeys.
  • Queerly Trans emphasizes the importance of acknowledging the diversity of attractions within the queer and trans community, including asexual, aromantic, bi, pan, and poly identities.
  • The editors of Queerly Trans are committed to maintaining the integrity of the publication by enforcing strict guidelines on privacy, copyright, and the avoidance of harmful identity gatekeeping or phobic content.
  • Writers are encouraged to be patient with the editorial process, recognizing that the editors are volunteers who are also part of the queerly trans community and may have their own trauma and triggers.
  • The publication has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, bullying, or any form of invalidation, manipulation, or demands, and will report such behavior.
  • Queerly Trans supports the use of content warnings for known triggers and requires citations for copyright and trademark compliance, including for images and external resources.
  • The guidelines highlight the importance of challenging internalized transphobia, queerphobia, and homophobia within personal narratives.
  • The publication encourages the inclusion of diverse perspectives and stories by providing writing prompts and a platform for responses, including a specific section for "Logan's Corner."
  • Queerly Trans reserves the right to make editorial changes to submissions to improve readability and distribution on Medium while preserving the author's voice.

Who are Queerly Trans Readers

The ‘ideal audience’ target is ME — 10, 20, maybe even 30 years ago. The idea behind this publication was that if I had seen stories that showed me that people don’t, “Transition to become straight,” maybe my egg would have cracked sooner. — KP

Our readers are us, the writers, before we knew what we know now. What would you want to share with your past self?

Read about WHY I Created this Publication here:

Who are Queerly Trans Writers

Our writers are queerly trans and non-binary spectrum gender-fuckers who have a unique understanding of the experience of ‘coming out twice’ (or more). They want to uplift and help those on the cusp of self-discovery and acceptance. They share their own silenced voice and raise the voices of other queerly trans folx.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking stories that explore the experience of being queer and trans AND non-binary, agender, gender fluid, gender non-conforming, and all other gender fuckery. There are plenty of publications out there for straight trans peeps, but trans doesn’t mean straight. And what about us non-binary, agender, gender fluid, etc. folx? Any attraction we have is absolutely queer. And what if you have different, limited, or no attraction (asexual, aromantic, lithosexual, etc.), or what if you have all of the attraction (bi, pan, poly, etc.)? Here at Queerly Trans, we break the heteronormative AND transnormative narratives!

Because trans doesn’t equal straight.

How to Write for Us

YOU ARE QUEERLY TRANS ENOUGH to write for us! ❤

We won’t gatekeep your identity! You are trans/non-binary/agender etc enough. In other words, you decide if you qualify as a possible Queerly Trans writer. I look forward to reading your work!

Let’s get loud!
