My Tributes to Illumination’s 3rd Anniversary

This unique publication has been serving writers and readers for 1095 days successfully.

As I mentioned in my new YouTube video today, time flies. Only a year ago, I created a video to celebrate the second birthday of Illumination in my early days as a writer on Medium.

Since then, I have become a top writer in multiple topics like virtual reality, gaming, social media, reading, and movies. Then, I joined the editorial team. I met terrific editors and gained better insights into the values and operation of these remarkable publications.

Today is Illumination’s 3rd anniversary. This unique publication is now three years old, supporting over 19,500 writers on Medium.

Dr Mehmet Yildiz had a vision on 19 March 2020 when the Covid pandemic reared its ugly head. He announced a publication called ILLUMINATION, inviting around 100 writers to join his mission.

They embraced the idea and convened daily as a team using Illumination’s Slack workspace, a virtual communication and collaboration tool.

Dr. Yildiz established Illumination based on core values such as Diversity, Synergy, Serendipity, Collaboration (Fusion), Fairness, and Inclusiveness.

These values are interrelated to create a culture that appeals to all stakeholders. These values started his integrated publications as a scalable content development and marketing enterprise.

After two years, Illumination scaled to include ten different publications, appealing to various types of creators and audiences. Around 80 thousand readers have started visiting the publications daily.

Illumination’s most significant result is writers at all levels and cross-pollinating them for mutual growth. Illumination supports from the absolute beginners to the most accomplished writers.

Dr. Yildiz identified several niches on Medium. One of them was related to books. So he established Illumination Book Chapters to bring published and indie authors together in one place.

He also created a publication for freelancers called Synergy and a tech pub called Technology Hits. In addition, he brought experienced writers placed under the umbrella of Illumination-Curated.

Since last year, I got inspired and added two publications, one for gaming and one for videographers and podcasters included, to this family.

I also created several videos introducing some writers and will continue to do so in 2023.

Now, Illumination is three years old. Since then, Illumination Integrated publications have published over 600 thousand stories from over 19 thousand writers. These stories received millions of views, bringing writers over two million-dollar income.

Illumination is one of the fastest-growing publications on Medium for two reasons: Dr. Yildiz pays significant attention to reader requirements and strongly supports creators by giving them flexibility and essential tools to create visibility.

The power of Illumination Integrated publication is the support of 119 volunteer editors who screen submissions, remove harmful materials, and publish desirable content timely.

With the support of readers and writers within the last three years, Illumination grew from 100 writers to 19 thousand, from a few hundred to thousands of readers.

And it will continue its service to empower writers and readers to create synergy and fusion with diversity, inclusion, collaboration, synergy, and serendipity.

Now, AI-written content is entering the mainstream content development market. Therefore, to supply this demand, Dr. Yildiz created a new publication to allow machine-generated content in a different publication called the Lampshade of Illumination.

It starts operating today onwards. The purpose of this new publication is to separate human-generated content from Ai-generated content as desired by the stakeholders of the Illumination Integrated publications.

The success of Illumination is not about money but the collaborative spirit of volunteers who donate their precious time to benefit all stakeholders.
