My Cup Runneth Over

Over Coffee Issue 5

Hello, my angel babies. Welcome to another edition of Over Coffee. The newsletter that’s more like a bunch of old friends just hanging out and chatting over coffee. LOL

A lot’s been going on here at Enticing the Muse. I’m very happy with the number of people coming by and checking out the writing prompts. Makes my heart sing. I’d love to see more, but I can’t complain.

Tomorrow we will have two writing prompt posts going live. With it being the first of the month, the August Word-A-Day post will hit first. Then, because it’s a Monday, our weekly prompt post will come out. And because it’s a whole new month, we have some new categories for you to work with. I’m kind of excited.

I’m also officially announcing that we will have a new prompt post coming out on Thursdays called Mid-Week Motivation. I posted one already, but I’ve come up with an actual plan for future posts.

Mid-Week Motivation will contain three sections. The first section will have two photos along with the search term used to find them. Sometimes when I search for a picture, what I find isn’t anything like what I thought I’d find. I love those.

The second section will be called The “Wh”ole Story. We’ll use the five W’s to come up with a story. (Who, What, Where, Why, When) What you do with those clues is completely up to you.

Finally, I’ll post three different prompts. One for fiction writers, one for poets, and one for those who write creative non-fiction. Do I know what they’ll be just yet? Nope, not a clue. That’ll come to me when I put the post together. Might even surprise myself.

I’m very happy with the way things are going over at our sister site, Amusing Responses. We now have 30 writers and they are all doing a wonderful job. I created the site as a place to publish the stories that came from our writing prompts, but I’ve opened it up for pieces written from any writing prompt. All I ask is that you tag the prompt creator and link to the prompt post. I want to make sure that other prompt writers out there get the recognition they deserve.

I’m also opening the site up to responses to other posts…to a point. I don’t want it to become a place where writers can bag on others for their opinions. Not gonna happen. But, if you read a post and it causes you to come up with something like-minded or brings on a strange memory, I’ll totally add that. Just please make sure to add a link back to the original post so I can see where you got your idea. Thanks.

I want to publically thank Rose Malana for helping me with Amusing Responses. She is my co-editor and I’ve noticed she’s published a few pieces before I had a chance to get there. Rose, honey, I can’t thank you enough. I want you to know how much I appreciated your help.

I’ve added a couple new characters to my other publication, Lair of the Immortals. If you’ve checked it out in the past, you’ll know I had three characters living there. Nefertiti-The Deathless Desert Queen, Lillith-Your guide through the afterlife, and Kate Rhodes-Paranormal Detective. Well, now they have company.

I’ve added a character I’ve written for a couple of years now. Queen Medb of Connacht. I first wrote about her on a roleplay blog, but the site went under and Medb and I went on our merry way. I ended up bringing her back to life over at Promptly Written, but have moved her to the lair. It’s the same story, but now it must continue.

I’ve also added a brand new character, Marina. I won’t tell you a lot about her as her story is still unfolding. I created Marina more than ten years ago when I did the NaNoWriMo challenge. I was so proud of myself as I’d reached the 50,000-word goal and had a whole story to show for it. Problem is that she got shoved into a drawer and all but forgotten. It’s high time I let her share her journey to immortality.

Okay, kids. I think I’ve finally hit the bottom of my cup. When I titled this piece, My Cup Runneth Over, I wasn’t kidding. I’m having the time of my life and enjoying giving everyone else something to write about. This is what I was meant to do.

Until next time, Happy Writing!!!
