Amusing Responses Submission Guidelines

Becoming a writer for Amusing Responses

Photo by Anne Nygård on Unsplash

Hello everyone and welcome to Amusing Responses. The new home to the prompt responses from Enticing the Muse. My hope is to give writers a place to showcase their work, who’ve created works based on my weekly and monthly writing prompts.

However, as with most other publications, we have to have a few rules. I promise these won’t be too painful, but I gotta do what I can to protect myself and my writers. So here we go:

The Rules

  1. All submissions must adhere to Medium’s Terms of Service and Medium’s Rules. I would hate to see us get shut down because someone didn’t want to play nice.
  2. All submissions need to have a properly cited image. If you need help, here’s a great article written by Ravyne Hawke.

3. All submissions need to be a response to a writing prompt. Though this publication was created to house the responses to the prompts on Enticing the Muse, I will accept pieces written from prompts posted in other publications. Make sure to tag the prompt creator and leave a link to the post.

4. Submissions should be polished and ready to go. I am not an editor. I will read through your piece, but it will most likely go out with any errors it may contain. If it’s really bad, I probably won’t publish it.

5. All submissions must be the author’s own work and we will not tolerate hate speech in any form.

6. Please use proper tagging. “Fiction”, “Poetry”, or “Creative Nonfiction”. This way, your stories will end up in the right place.

Becoming a Writer:

If you’d like to be added as a writer, leave your handle and a quick hello in the comments section of this post. I’ll do my best to get you added asap.

When you submit a post, make sure it’s still in draft. I will read over your piece, but I won’t do a lot of editing. Please make sure your piece is clean and ready to be seen.

The Legal Stuff:

I, Christine Graves, do hereby reserve the right to change these guidelines at any time in the future. Depending on how things go, I may find the need to add or subtract a few of these rules.

I reserve the right to remove any writer I believe is causing problems or issues within the site. I hope I never have to do this, but I will remove anyone who harasses, threatens, or creates havoc with myself and/or other writers.

I reserve the right to change this site at any time in the future.

Please understand that this is a huge step for me. Though I’ve been part of the editorial team on several publications, this is my first time being the head honcho. I’m a little nervous, to say the least.

My dream for this site is to be a place where the inspired can showcase their talents. A place for the dreamer to dream, the bard to sing, and the shadows to cast their wares.
