Introduction to the life of Paranormal Detective, Kate Rhodes
Paranormal detective, Kate Rhodes, has spent years investigating supernatural events. Hundreds of years.
Born mortal in the middle of the 16th century, an infant girl is left in a tree and taken in by the goddess, Hecate. She’s given the gift of immortality and the knowledge of the ancients. However, knowing she was once one of them, Kate makes it her mission to protect the mortals from otherworldly beings…and vice versa.
Kate came to me in one of those not-quite-awake-not-quite-asleep visions. Most of my characters are either set in the here and now, or in the ancient past. Though parts of Kate’s story will entail that essence, most of her story takes place between the late 16th century and the present. Kind of a steampunk theme, though I’m not sure I can write in that genre.
This is my attempt to write outside of my comfort zone and add a new style to my repertoire. Though I’ve written several character-driven pieces like this, I’ve never done one in that style. I’ve always loved the Victorian/Edwardian era, but it wasn’t something I thought I’d ever write.
But then again, Kate came to me, so maybe she’ll write her story herself. In her words, in her manner, in her time.
