Musical Feelings

Episode #13

Harriette couldn’t sleep last night. She thought David, and her first violin lesson next week. With a glimpse on her face, she walked downstairs. Vivianne wasn’t awake yet. It was early in the morning. It was half-past five, but sometimes Vivianne gets spooky in the middle of the night.

Harriette looked at the order of her violin in the email. Nothing yet. ‘Yes, what do you think, ordering it yesterday evening, and getting it in the morning, Harriette? Common… Don’t be so dramatic!’

The coffee machine rattled with her favourite coffee. Three cups of coffee are more than enough for her. She took a sip. It was too hot, and she spewed everything out, on Vivianne.

“Ouch, mama.”

“The coffee is so hot.”

“Oh, you mean David.”

Harriette looked at her with small eyes. ‘How dares she?!’ She is not into David. That is what she tells herself all the time, but what about her thoughts? She thinks about him all the time. Another smile entered her face, and only hearing his name in her brain.

Vivianne took two plates, one to make herself sandwiches. She made herself a sandwich with cheese, and one with strawberry spread. Vivianne also made a sandwich for her mother. ‘What is wrong with my mom these days? Since she met that David.’

David walked through the city. It was eight o’clock in the morning, the fresh smell of the morning feels always good. He caught himself smiling. David fluted the whole way. People were looking at him as if he was crazy. With his violin on his back, David went inside the music building.

“Where is your mother?”, sniffing his nose while opening the door for Vivianne. Looking back one more time.

“I was allowed to go alone. She neede to finish something.”

Disappointed as David was, he picked up his violin. He tunes his violin and then he tuned Vivianne’s violin. When she started to play, he saw how she held her bow. Her fingers were all over the stick, while they were all flat. This was the whole lesson.
