Episode #4

Vivianne was still drawing in her room. She drew a violin with a man playing the instrument. She really wanted to play the violin. While drawing, she listened to David Feldman, her favorite violinist. She swooned away listening to his music.

Harriette called the local music school. She got the phone number of one of the violin teachers. He teaches on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Fridays fit best for Vivianne because that is her only free day in the week. She also dances three times a week. They agreed that Vivianne will do a proof lesson to see if playing the violin is something for her. That is what she can pay now.

When Harriette hung up, Vivianne came downstairs. With a drawing of a violin for her mother. Maybe she can convince her mother with a drawing of a violin. Her mother sighed and smiled.

“Sit down, my darling.”

Her mom sounded worried and Vivianne thought she got a speech again that violin lessons are out of the budget. Harriette took a chair from the table.

“What is it, mom? You sound so worried.”

“No, not at all. I, actually, have a surprise for you.”

Vivianne’s eyes twinkled a little bit. ‘Is it the violin lessons?’, was the first thought she got.

“What is it?”

“I think you like it as you talked a lot about it.”

There were more twinkles in her eyes than ever before. Her heartbeat was faster than she could ever feel it.

“Is it violin lessons?”

She cried a little bit of happiness that the violin drawing, she still had in her hands, became wet.

“Well, I called a local music school. They gave me the number of their violin teacher. You can do a proof violin lesson.”

More tears came over the cheek of Vivianne. She couldn’t be happier than ever before. While she ran over to mom and hugged her, she dropped her violin drawing all wet. Her mother knew that this would make her day all good.

“Mom,”, while she looked up to her mother with dreadlocks, “why? It wasn’t possible?”
