She walked through the streets with her mom, Vivianne saw a man playing the violin. She stopped for a while to listen to him. Her mom walked into the shop where the violinist played. A book shop with a lot of books she wanted to read. In her little shoulder bag, there were three euros for that book she wanted to buy.

This man with his violin had so much white dirt on his instrument. She found this interesting. In his violin case, there were a few coins. Why was this man playing the violin and asking for money? Vivianne looked at it, but it was not much. There were four euros in his case. That is very sad.

This man also wore clothes with lots of holes in it, like he is a man living in the streets. Vivianne never saw such a thing. She walked further into the street to the bookstore where her mom was. It made her think about it. Looking back, she saw that everybody passed him without giving him some money.

In the shop, she walked to her mom. Her mom, a forty-year-old nurse, turned to her.

“Look, I have found the book you wanted to have. It only costs one euro and thirty cents.”

Harriette looked amazed but changed her look when she saw Vivianne looked very sad. While she held that book, ‘In The Middle of Nowhere’ by Peter Vanhilt, Vivianne looked outside to that violinist. Vivianne took that coin she had in her pocket and back to that man.

“What is it, darling?”

“Look at that man outside playing the violin. He has coins in his case, but that not much. And look at how he wears his clothes. It is so sad to see. Maybe he needs my coins more than I need it.”

“What makes you think that, sweetheart?”

“He plays good, but he wears those clothes. I want to play as he plays.”

“Well, maybe you are right. What are you going to do?”

Vivianne took that book from her mom and put that book back.
