MSI Is Making a Steam Deck Rival
The MSI Claw is the latest competitor to the Steam Deck

In some earlier posts, I’ve talked about all sorts of gaming gear stuff. You can find those linked at the end of this one. But for now, let’s dive into something new: the MSI Claw, the latest rival to the Steam Deck.
So, guess what? The official price tag for The Claw in the US is out, and if you were crossing your fingers for it to match the Steam Deck OLED’s $549 price, well, you’re in for a letdown. The top-tier variant of The Claw will cost you a cool $799. But hey, hold up, I’m not ready to bash that price just yet.
First off, let’s put things in perspective. At $799, The Claw comes in cheaper than the bulky Lenovo Legion Go. But wait, there’s more. Let’s talk specs. The Claw’s got a 7-inch display, which might not be as big as the Steam Deck OLED’s 7.4 inches.
It supports a 1080p resolution, unlike Valve’s handheld. Plus, it’s got a 120Hz refresh rate, double that of the Steam Deck. Translation? Games will run smoother than a buttered-up slide and hit up to 120FPS.
But that’s not all. The goodies keep on rolling. The Claw proudly boasts being the first handheld gaming device to flaunt Intel’s new Core Ultra processors.
The Meteor Lake chipset is like the new kid on the block, and everyone’s whispering that it’s a massive upgrade in both performance and efficiency compared to its AMD competition. Take your pick between an i5 or i7 processor, but honestly, with the i7 model just $50 more, why not go all out?
Let’s be honest here. While it’s tempting to compare The Claw and the Steam Deck to the Nintendo Switch, they’re actually more like alternatives to those high-end gaming laptops that’ll empty your wallet faster than you can say “gamer.” Seriously, those laptops can cost you two or three times the price of these handhelds.
Final Words
So, if you’re itching to dip your toes into PC gaming without breaking the bank or sacrificing that console-style setup, The Claw and Steam Deck are the way to go.
