In some of my past chats, I’ve chatted up those cool handheld gaming gadgets, and you can catch those discussions in the links down below. But today, I’m gonna spill the tea on Razer’s answer to the Steam Deck, the Razer Edge.

Back in the day when I was growing up, handheld gaming was pretty darn limited. You were stuck with two choices: either grab yourself a Nintendo DS or go all wild with something like a PSP (PlayStation Portable). And if you didn’t choose either of those, well, tough luck, my friend. But times have seriously changed since then!

Today, we’ve got a whole new ball game with a bunch of awesome options on the table. First off, you’ve got the Nintendo Switch, a game-changer that’s basically a handheld and console rolled into one. Then there’s the Steam Deck, a PC gamer’s dream, and the Asus ROG Ally, another hardcore contender in the handheld gaming arena.

Razer, the gaming gear legends, have finally unleashed their beast, the Razer Edge, beyond the borders of the US. Yep, it’s hitting select markets in Europe, Asia, and the UK.

Now, let’s dive into the nitty-gritty of this Android-based handheld/tablet hybrid. The Razer Edge was born to bring cloud gaming to the masses, with compatibility for services like Xbox Game Pass and Nvidia GeForce Now.

Plus, you can still dive into all those awesome Android games, with no sweat. Imagine tearing up the track in Forza Horizon 4, battling through the Halo Infinite universe, or chainsawing some Locust in Gears 5, all while you’re on the move.

Let’s talk about that screen, shall we? A 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a buttery-smooth 144Hz refresh rate — your games are going to look as sharp as a ninja’s blade. And powering this beast is none other than the Snapdragon G3x processor.

But here’s the kicker — the Razer Kishi V2 mobile controller comes bundled in, giving the Edge a vibe that’s reminiscent of a souped-up Nintendo Switch. It’s like having the best of both worlds. However, when it comes to memory, the Edge isn’t quite at the top of the food chain.

It’s packing 8GB of RAM on the 5G variant, while its competitors, the ROG Ally and Steam Deck, are flexing with a whopping 16GB. So, if you’re a multitasking maestro, you might need to think twice.

Alright, let’s talk cash, moolah, dinero — the price tag. The Razer Edge is hitting the market at $599.99 USD, which is less than the ROG Ally but a bit more than the entry-level Steam Deck. Now, which one’s the right pick for you depends on your gaming style and budget.

If you’re all about that storage life, the Ally might seem more appealing. But if you’re watching your wallet, the Edge might be calling your name. Plus, if you’re a die-hard Steam fan, it could tip the scales in favor of the Deck.

Now, here’s the thing — all these handheld PC gaming machines are awesome, but you’ve got to figure out which one fits your lifestyle like a glove. If you’re constantly on the move or just love the freedom of gaming wherever you please, these babies are a no-brainer.

But hey, if you’re the type who prefers gaming sessions that keep you glued to your seat and your curtains drawn, the PS5 or Xbox Series X might be your go-to pals. They’re in a similar price range, too. And if you want the absolute best of both worlds, well, gaming laptops are always an option.

Final Words

So, there you have it — the world of handheld gaming has exploded, and it’s up to you to choose your adventure.

Whether you’re sprinting through Mario’s kingdom, conquering the PC gaming universe, or immersing yourself in the console giants, the gaming world is your oyster.

Grab your controller, pick your battleground, and game on, my friend!
