DEP Poetry Prompt
Mid-Month Poetry Round-Up and Prompt December 2023
Winter colds bring beautiful poems
Winter brings us cold, darkness, the beauty of snow, and quiet nights. GK
🌟✨In case you have missed our previous round-up and poetry prompt. Our prompts do not expire you can respond at any time. Answering prompts is optional. Freely written poetry is also welcomed at any time.
🌟✨We have received many beautiful poems this month. Please make sure to use #dep poetry so I can capture your poems. I want to say thank you to all of you who submitted poems this month.🌟✨
🌟✨This month's prompt is all about Winter nights. Tell me how winter nights make you feel in a poem.🌟✨
Winter Nights
Fire crackling, ice forming magical Winterland. Looking outside I can see you being naughty tonight. Bringing the cold nights into my sight. Freezing winds visit with flooding and rain.
There is some beauty in the coldest of nights. I feel a sense of security by the beautiful fire tonight. Outside can be harsh, harder than any night. Inside by the fire, I feel the warmth of the night.
12/3/23 GK
🌟✨🌟✨Celebrate Beautiful Poetry.🌟✨🌟✨
I would like to thank you for all the amazing poets lightening up the winter nights with their poetry. This is a sample collection we have received many beautiful poems.
🌟✨From me: When I get inspired at 2 am…
“Quietly stepping into the night. Your thoughts emerge in the moonlight. Your hopes collide with the stars. The beaming entity surrounds your humanity.”
🌟✨Poetry Round up From Dec 1-Dec 13th🌟✨
🌟I would like to highlight DR Rawson - The Possibilist, who was so inspired by other poets at DEP, that he wrote his second-ever poem about Fall this month.
🌟Magical and mystical poetry and song from Leah Lynch about the moon. I love the image and the words. I am inspired.
“Illumination light the path to a journey that will last”
🌟A beautiful and amazing poem by Raechel “Rael Thymes” about self-love. A must-read.
“I love my big, bleeding heart because I will go at length”
“I love my difficult experiences and point of view, Because it brings resonance and healing to you”
🌟More beautiful words from Raechel “Rael Thymes” never apologize for who you are.
“I won’t apologize for being myself, …I won’t apologize for my white and black races. …You will never apologize, and that’s just fine.” Raechel “Rael Thymes”
🌟A lovely fun humor poetry from Warren Brown a must-read.
“Tarzan has for his breakfast, wild fruits and berries, While the chimpanzees happily eat bananas and cherries.”
🌟Enes Cevik’s lovely poem Exposure is a very beautiful and “freeing” read.
“Just being. Myself. Just being. In full exposure. Just myself. Being. Acknowledged. In my sin. And ultimately freeing.”
🌟Another lovely poem by Enes Cevik, powerful and beautiful words of poetry.
“I’m holding you still. Frightened to loose it all. Against my will. I’m hunting the why. Earth had chosen me. Yet to comply. I’m fragile. But strong.”
🌟Another lovely poem that will elevate your senses.
“The air. A kiss. In my glimpse a bliss. I close my eyes. Reminiscing the skies. My lips have entered. My soul just flattered.”
🌟More magic from Enes Cevik
“Nothing had mattered. But me. The purpose. Just simply my sight. And my soul’s endearing light.”
🌟A beautiful poem calling for simplicity and mindfulness this holiday from Gabriela Trofin-Tatár
“Choose to give and simplify. Use your time with love and a smile.”
🌟Garima Sharma talks about fresh beginnings in her lovely poem.
“To start anew, to change your fate. Yesterday’s actions don’t define who you are, Each moment brings a chance to raise the bar.”
🌟More poems from Garima Sharma
🌟I loved this beautiful poem from Garima Sharma. Her ending is how I feel:
“And in this journey, may you find love, joy, and growth.”
A great poem simply saying smile just because you can by Garima Sharma
🌟Garima Sharma talks about grief in this beautiful poem and finds the solution of love.
“For grief may be heavy, but love is the key, To healing, to finding solace and glee.”
🌟Poetry by Tara Zoë Roshe
“Chosen. I am a writer now. Inside me, a floating balloon. The sun has risen on a glorious new day.”
🌟Poetic words by Ngozi Anna Akunne
“If you can fill the enduring nano-second, With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that is in it, And which is more you will be a Man.”
🌟Another poem that will make you smile by Ngozi Anna Akunne.
“A smile costs nothing but gives importance, It takes but a moment, but the memory of it generally lasts forever. None are so rich that can get on without it, And none are so poor but that can be made rich by it.”
🌟A lovely poem about the moon and emotions by 𝐡.𝐚.𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞
“Somewhere no one could ever fear the womb. Somewhere the heart only aches from growing pains.”
🌟A lovely poem about fall that was also used to enter the Fall contest from Natalie Gasper
“The sweet lullaby of Autumn, a being of mist and leaves and fire, lulling the forest to sleep with a whoosh and a sigh.”
🌟Alison McBain shares beautiful words with life and sorrow, pain and birth.
“I am still breathing but it catches in my heart sometimes, the better words I knew before lost behind yesterday’s fog.”
🌟I am grateful for all the beautiful poetry submitted in the last 2 weeks.🌟 I believe poetry brings a beautiful light into our lives. Thank you for bringing the light. 🌟
🌟✨🌟✨Getting our books into bookstores update.🌟✨🌟✨
Gabriella visited 3 bookstores and a gallery this past weekend to see if we can get our books into them. One bookstore declined stating it is the end of the year and they will not buy anything until later next year. I have not heard back from any of the 5 bookstores where I sent e-mail requests a month or so ago.
One additional bookstore in Astoria is still reviewing our books hoping to hear this week on what the owner decided.
A few of DEP's poetry books Moments of Eternity and 101 Universal Messages are now available in a local Gallery in Cannon Beach, Oregon, and will be available at Lucy’s Books in Astoria, Oregon.
