Where do you find joy in your life?

I like this quote from Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles in her prompt 21 of 52 for this week where she stated:

“This is something I learned from my mother. Whenever I felt low, she suggested I make a list of five things that made me happy or five incidents that bring me joy. Now, when I was upset about something, she suggested I extend that list to ten things I like about myself.”

I was thinking what joyous moments mean to me when it comes to self — love. I recently wrote about self love and what type of things I do for myself. I also wrote about joyful moments. One of my joyful moments are writing for joy. Another article I wrote about joyfulness remembering a recent road trip.

It also feels that self -love, joy and happiness are all intertwined and connect with each other. One will lead to another. I hope that many joyful moments visit me every day in my life.

I like the idea to remember joyous moments. Life can spring joy on us at any second and it is great to get fully immersed in the beauty of the moments. Simple things in nature like the sun shining or a beautiful flower can bring us joy. A smile of family, friends, neighbors or someone walking down on the street can bring us joy.

Spending time with people you care about, family and friends can bring beautiful joyful moments into your life. When you stay quet and silent you can feel the enegy and hum of the universe. It is a joyful moment that created by our being reacting to our surrounding and feeling the uniting force around us.

Moments of joy for me can also come form the “flow sate”. the flow state was introduced my Csikszentmihalyi Mihaly. He explores the roots of happiness. You can learn more about this in the Ted Talk below or by reading his book. Csikszentmihalyi states that

“Flow, the secret to happiness”

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi: Flow, the secret to happiness | TED Talk

I feel the state of flow when I create art, when I write, when I sing, when I hum, when I dance with the universe, when I am out in nature and creating something new. Things just feel smooth and joyful. They are truly happy moments.

What brings me joy:

  • Smiles
  • Being with family and friends
  • Being in nature
  • Listening to the hum of the universe
  • Moments of flow state — while doing art, walking, etc…

Join me with some peaceful moments by the beach a few weeks back.

I hope you enjoyed this short video. Nature always makes me feel joyful and relaxed.

Another joyful moment by the ocean where I described dancing with nature and the waves. I am always at awe of the beauty nature provides.

I hope you have enjoyed this article,
