Growth and Flowering: A Writers Journal

Welcome to the homepage for my #MayWritingExperience!

Photo by Alexander Schimmeck on Unsplash

I am taking part in the Samantha Lazar and ◦•●Christina M. Ward ●•◦ May Writing Experience. This will fit in beautifully with the 30-day writing challenge that I am also taking part in. These month-long challenges are designed to nourish my growth as a writer, hold some accountability and help connect me as part of a community. This post will act as my journal of reflections and will be updated each week of the challenge.

My Goals

I only joined this platform as a writer in April. I am hoping that this experience will help me learn more about this platform and find my feet as a writer. I also look forward to connecting and engaging within a supportive community.

Week 1: The Writing Muse

Post: The Uncovering of the Muse

How can I be of benefit to others?” This question seems to spark my inner muse into action. I never get told any answers just random images appear in my minds eye that gives me inspiration.

Goals:

  • This week I plan to do a stats inventory of my profile ✅
  • I will be reviewing and updating my profile page and BIO ✅
Pre-challenge: Authors profile page in April.
Authors profile at the end of Week 1 (May).
Authors profile at the end of Week 4 (May).
  • I plan to spend at least 25–40 minutes every morning throughout the challenges connecting with and reading the work of other writers (Ongoing)✅
  • During May I will still be finding my feet, but plan to branch out of my comfort zone and write for other niches I wouldn’t normally consider, such as fictional short-form and poetry ✅

Week 2: The Hero’s Journey

Post: A Journey of Self-Discovery. In response to The Hero’s Journey

I look forward to connecting with my readers, other writers and trying out some new styles of writing to push me out of my comfort zone.

Goals:

  • To find some some writing mentors and accountability buddies ✅
  • Checking out some new publications I would like to write for and study the content already published ✅
  • Engage and connect with at least 3–5 writers by commenting on their stories. Each day of the week , request to be a writer for a new publication — exceeded
  • Submit 7 stories to 7 different publications this week ✅
