A Journey of Self-Discovery
In response to The Hero’s Journey

I wanted to be a writer as a child, but diagnosed with mild dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) meant that this almost seemed like a laughable goal to set. However, unbeknown to me what held me back at school would go on to be my greatest assets as an adult! More on that later, but…
The thing is even when I did do well at school because of the label of my dyslexia some teachers would accuse me of cheating! These teachers made me redo my work under close supervision — this was often during break times!
The traditional education system did not work for me and I feel that some schools even today are failing the neuro-diverse populations in society. We think differently and schools encourage everyone to be the same. To memorise facts for standardised tests, rather than value innovative and creative thinking that may challenge the social norms of society. Change is good.
So, with the support of my parents, I quit school and took control of my education.
Becoming a published author
At 17 I got a call from Livewire. They liked something I had written. It was to be published in a book! I was a writer! I remember seeing the book in the library and decided to check it out. In those days it was stamped by a real human person. So I turned to the chapter I had written with the library card placed strategically by my name. Hoping the librarian would notice I was the author.
She sighed, “Please open the book on the correct page for stamping,” she said.
Life long learning
I went on to do multiply degrees from psychology to cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and even a course in history at the University of Oxford.
Now I want to help others become more focused, motivated, self-disciplined, and successful at achieving their personal goals.
The dyslexia and ADHD that held me back at school made me a highly innovative, creative, and strategic thinker, extremely persistent and able to see patterns. I can be very focused with high energy, drive, incredibly self-disciplined, and motivated.
Never give up on dreams. Keep going. The universe rewards those that are persistent.
My mission now? To help others to learn new skills and transform themselves! While sharing my own experiences and goals to inspire others to take action.
