With this post, we would like to introduce you to Joanie Adams, editor of Illumination Integrated Publications on Medium.

Joanie impressed our senior editors, who invited her to join our team. She is now one of the volunteer editors of Illumination itself, conducting hourly check-ups on the status of drafts and offering advice, editorial remarks, and feedback on the published pieces. She is always willing to give writers the time they need if any difficulty arises.
Spreading such principles on the aforementioned publications; Telling us: “Writers need a lifetime to refine, not needing just a minute to be heard; and just a second to be published.”
Joanie began her writing when she was a mere child, which she often jokes is longer ago than it looks; she took an interest in it when she played and made up stories with her toys and needed a place outside her mind.
She began to write songs, play musical instruments, and sing in her later adolescence — writing prose and poetry came before that but not coming to the forefront of her imagination till later.
Her education began in her household, being taught by a multitude of individuals, ranging from Father-figures to a favorite aunty, she tells us, her friends, and primarily from the great figures from history. Using her time wisely between written work and physical play until she grew into her late adolescence.
Continuing to develop her passions, she began working as a freelancing video editor, finding success in marketing and business-related products, with the hopes of branching out to the editorial field of lecture and history-centered content.
Concurrently she also worked as a freelance writer, which she also endeavors to this day — ranging from songwriting to writing articles for magazines to copywriting. She brands herself on keeping quality above quantity in her work.
She has always worked for herself, obtaining the needed skills for the task at hand by either observing and learning first-hand or teaching herself said skill, using the jobs and the years to refine duly; Using also the diligence and erudition of books, articles, and whatever paper-form piece would teach her.
As the years progressed, she collected a vast array of interests, one she hopes always to fulfill; From European History to Philosophy and Scientific Methods — to the current state of the United States, and what it was in the past, documenting that history in hopes for the children of tomorrow and of the children of yesterday; Using her new and deeply ancient but always developing methods, she hopes to reveal and stop her audience with either Poetry, story-telling methods, or the art of song.
The potential of turning some of that into a YouTube series has cropped up in her to-do list in recent years, several ideas being a series on American Discourse and a new angle on the life of Abraham Lincoln, which she remarks on:
“I wish to have a series that isn’t a stale documentary, working primarily on the myth than the man of Lincoln, of which they portray mostly a rickety old bastion of the American way, without any real depth or emotional tact to draw the audience in.”
In the past few years, she has focused primarily on her writing, beginning a number of Novels — titles are yet to be announced; Telling us she plans to take the Goodness And Wellness series and transform it into either just a Book or into a new, interactive series somewhere, perhaps on Youtube or similar services in the near future.
Which she says, falls right in line with one of her principles that advice should never be paid for, as she sought to work and aid individuals with grief, and suicidal tendencies — with the hopes of pursuing a full-medical doctor’s license.
In the last four months, she has embarked on a journey within the platform of Medium, beginning in March of 2023, she has slowly established herself through a number of series and, after meeting several writers, began The Fine Rabble and the Publication Marches Of Gold, slowly, she remarked: “Medium reminded me of the fact of what an effect good editing does! Especially on the readability of a piece.”
She joined Illumination publications in May of the same year and has been enjoying her journey with us ever since, recently becoming an editor for us in the month of July.
Currently, Adams abides on the East Coast of the United Kingdom, in the county of Norfolk, which she has often remarked as being the budget sister of the Netherlands.
She says that she doesn’t like to stay in one place for long and hopes to move on from there in the next few years to pursue one of those novel ideas.
She remarks finally: “I cannot ever settle, I must always be busy with something! Always, I must! Creating something here, I’m really compulsive!”
