Contemplate the vastness of the universe, teeming with uncountable stars, galaxies, and potentially parallel universes housing countless realities. In this grand mental tableau, consider our minuscule presence, yet marvel at the immense capacity of our minds to grasp and revel in these marvels.

Poetry is one of the ways to communicate these wonders. While I have a deep-seated affection for poetry, I’ve typically chosen to keep my poetic creations within the confines of my private world.

To date, I have shared just one poem for Mother’s Day, tributing to lovely mothers who teach their children to feel euphoric moments despite their challenges in life.

Yet, this weekend, a group of writing friends, especially poets, prodded me to take on a new endeavor: entering Vocal’s poetry contest, as introduced by Aiden last week. The prompt's title was How Would You Introduce an Alien to Earth?

Unable to resist their persuasive arguments, I crafted an imaginary piece that harmonizes my professional endeavors with my musings on the enigmatic world of extraterrestrial life.

Before presenting my humble art, let me share why I’m drawn to poetry. It’s like my secret passage to peek into the mysterious workings of the mind and the endless stream of consciousness with embodied cognition and mindful awareness.

I always meditate before writing a poem and go into a flow state. Then, when writing poetry, I act like a painter, using words to create colorful pictures of my thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations with imagination, which is an essential cognitive skill for our survival and well-being.

Imagination is like navigating a maze in my conscious and subconscious mind and body, disentangling the threads of how I see things, remember moments, feel sensations, and find meaning in them. It is so powerful that every material thing we create was once an imagination.

With every line in my poetry, I strive to balance between making things logically clear and relatable and leaving a touch of mystery to tickle the minds, hearts, and spirits of my readers.

Reading and writing poetry sharpens my mental skills in understanding how my own mind ticks, like having a microscope and a telescope to explore the hidden corners of micro-psyches and macro-universes.

Through poetry, I capture fleeting moments when my thoughts soar like an eagle, and my emotions dance like butterflies. I turn these abstract mental and emotional experiences into words that might connect with others on their own journeys of self-discovery.

Being a science and tech enthusiast, I’m especially intrigued by the magical mix of art, science, and mysticism in poetry, which can create wonders.

I see poetry as a tool to supercharge our minds. For instance, writing poetry can turbocharge our metacognitive skills, which are like mental power-ups for smart thinking, learning, analyzing, problem-solving, risk-taking, and decision-making.

Writing and reading poetry also helps us understand ourselves and others better by shining a light on our thoughts and feelings. It is also an interpersonal skill.

For example, when reading poetry, I empathize and feel compassion for poets as they reflect their inner world strengths and vulnerabilities with their readers. When writing, I put myself in my reader’s shoes.

In the end, poetry is a stairway to superconsciousness and metacognition. By diving into the deep waters of our own minds through poetry, we can stretch our horizons and gain fresh insights into the world around and beyond us.

Now, please take a moment to inhale deeply, relax your muscles, and allow these words to create serene mental imagery, inducing relaxation in just two minutes.

Now wearing your creative hats, picture each line in the following poem using your vivid imagination of extraterrestrials coming trillions of light years, archaic science laboratories on earth, and the synergy of diverse entities working together to achieve extraordinary outcomes and fulfill personal dreams and universal aspirations.

Visitors from beyond graced my earthly lab, making my tasks flow with ease and breeze.

From distant shores of the universe, they glide in grace,

Alien guests, a cosmic chase.

Their saucer gleams with yellow and purple bright,

With otherworldly and radiant light.

In my old science den, I bid them hail,

To share the minds of earthly men with them I prevail.

“Welcome, friends, to Earth’s warm sphere,

To my lab’s frontier, where simple knowledge we hold dear.”

Through gates of wonder, they ventured near,

Intrigued by simple human tales, so clear.

In vessels bubbling, funny gears that sing,

My hidden and ambitious experiments, a curious thing.

Here, I proudly say, we boldly seek,

To understand the psyche, the mind’s mystique.

Alien eyes, they nod and discern,

As I unveil my puzzles, eager to learn.

Forty years, a blink of an eye, I’ve toiled and strained,

Earthly wisdom often has me chained.

But in their alien wisdom, they offer aid,

To complex puzzles and riddles that have me swayed.

With cosmic grace, and insight rare,

They aid in mysteries, beyond compare.

With alien wit, and scientific care,

They make my experiments a celestial affair.

Beakers bubble and invisible particles align,

A cosmic journey, so sublime.

Infinite wisdom vast, like stories untold,

In my archaic lab, their presence, manifold.

Aliens and humans, hand in hand,

Exploring the universe’s grandest strand.

My experiments, now truly sublime,

With interstellar help, a magical time.

Aliens, with cosmic joy in tow,

Lit my science path with a radiant flow.

Where science and cosmic wonders unite,

We explore, dancing through the cosmos, so bright.

Exploring the cosmos, the answers we’ll redeem,

Unlocking the universe, like a magnificent scheme

Aliens and humans, in unity’s gleams,

Together, we chase the science with mystic dreams.
