Disney’s Newest Movie Strange World Is Reported to Lose $100+ Million
How does this happen to a company that consistently makes instant classic films?

Disney movies have been a stable part of almost every kid's childhood since almost all of their movies tell a great story in a magical way. Some of my favorite Disney movies include Frozen, Tangled, and Wreck-It Ralph.
Although earlier today, as I was scrolling through TikTok, I came across a video that mentioned the fact that Disney's newest movie, Strange World, is set to lose over $100 million. The video I saw was posted by a TikTok creator named The Comments Section.
In this video, Brett Cooper (the host of The Comments Section) referenced a tweet by Pop Base, who stated the same thing.
Cooper outlined the insane fact that Strange World was the only thanksgiving movie released this year. So if anyone was going to see a family movie during thanksgiving, this would have been the only one. But still, even after that, it’s still set to lose $100 million.
Cooper also referenced another tweet by End Wokeness, who stated that Strange World is Disney’s “wokest film yet.” This is due to the storyline consisting of climate change, as well as the main character, who is openly part of the LGBTQ+ community.
One of the main reasons Cooper suspects this movie won't make enough money is due to the international market. Much like other Hollywood productions, the film won't be played in China and Russia due to “geopolitical tensions.”
Additionally, Disney decided not to submit the film to other smaller international markets, such as the Middle East, Malaysia, and Indonesia, due to the countries' differences in ideologies.
Films with such references are usually censored in these countries, but unfortunately, Disney “wasn’t willing to cut out parts of the movie to comply with their guidelines.”
Additionally, according to viewer reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, many people felt that there were too many “virtue signaling attempts,” which weighed down the decent story.
Many people who went to see the film with their kids mentioned that many of these “messages” went right over their kids' heads, who didn't understand what was going on.
Many people did mention that the animation, as well as the set up was great, but the plot left a lot to be desired. One person stated that this film was “not up to what Disney used to do.”
Another review stated that this film “has no heart and any warmth [and it] seems to be very artificial.”
Interestingly, these reviews aren’t hand-picked. You can have a look yourself at Rotten Tomatoes yourself, where you’ll see that a majority of the reviews say they thought the film was boring, lame, or lacked Disney’s warmth.
This type of thing is really disappointing to see from a film studio that was a major part of many of our childhoods. It’s kind of upsetting to see that kids nowadays seemingly won't experience that Disney magic that we did when we were kids.
I sincerely hope that Disney learns from this mishap so that they can create films as they used to in the past. If they want to include these types of these in their films, it shouldn't take away from the storyline just to get the message across.
