Introducing Two Vocal Writing Contests
Hurry Up! They are closing soon.

Dear Writers,
I recently joined Vocal Media and posted an article about my experience with this interesting platform. Those who missed it can view the article via the following link.
In this post, I’d like to mention another benefit of Vocal Media for writers. It is called writing challenges. After looking into them, I was surprised by the prizes.
Currently, Vocal has two challenges. I’d like to briefly introduce them.
The first one is called the Mystery Box Challenge.
The Mystery Box Challenge

Writing between 600 to 3,000 words qualify the writers to join this challenge. The purpose of the challenge is to capture a sense of mystery.
The site prompts two questions.
How does the arrival of something unexpected change the course of one’s day?
What is the true motive of the package’s sender?
The prizes attracted my attention since they will reward $2,000 for the grand prize, $500 for second place, and $50 for ten runners-up.
Unfortunately, the contest closes in two days. If you are a fiction writer and have something related to the mystery box, you can submit your story up until November 29, 2022, at 11:59 PM ET.
Weekend Getaway Challenge

This challenge requires writers to create a fictional story about a weekend getaway that starts with this first sentence: “We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin.”
I don’t know the importance of this prompt, but it looks necessary. Like the other challenge, the word requirement is between 600 and 3,000.
The grand prize for this challenge is a $1,000 Airbnb credit. The second place is a $250 Airbnb Credit, and ten runners-up will get $25.
Fortunately, this content has more time than the previous one. So if you post your story before December 2nd, at 11:59 PM ET, you will be qualified.
As I have some interesting Airbnb stories, I am considering submitting one if my busy schedule permits it.
Final Words
I love writing challenges on Medium therefore, I got attracted to this writing contest on Vocal, as they also pay a substantial amount of money to writers.
Therefore, I wanted to create awareness in case anyone might be interested. I plan to join the second challenge. As I am not a fiction writer, I don’t think I can make something decent for the first challenge.
The critical point is that you must be 13 years or older to be eligible for the contest. I don’t think anyone under 14 will join, but who knows? I met a friend on Medium who is just 14 years old and writes amazing stories.
You also need to live in a country where Stripe payment is accepted for these challenges. I believe Vocal only accepts Stripe, just like Medium.
I heard from a few friends that Stripe is not accepted in some countries, such as India. They cannot even monetize their content on Medium. I feel sorry for them.
If you are new to Vocal, you can join with my referral link. It will not cost you extra similar to Medium membership.
I wish you good luck in this contest. If you win, please let us know so that we can celebrate together on Vocal and Medium.
I hope we find ways to connect on Vocal too. I noticed that writers could share their story links on Illumination’s Slack workspace. The name of the channel is #vocal-writers-and-stories. I will check that channel frequently to find Vocal stories.
I will share my experience with Vocal as I learn more.
On Medium, I recently posted my first curated collection for writers contributing to Illumination Gaming Publication. I hope you find some valuable pieces in this collection. I appreciate your support of these writers.
I also provided an update on my writing in October as I joined a writing challenge. If you are a writer, I encourage you to join writing challenges to produce more. Here’s the story with details if you are interested in the effects of writing challenges.
I Attempt to Solve a Problem of the New Writers with a Bit of Humor on YouTube and TikTok.
With that being said, thank you for reading my post, and have a good one.
