Create a RUCCus: Read, Underline, Clap, and Comment!
This is how we build community at Middle-Pause
We all know how to create a RUCCus, right? Read, clap, underline, and comment on each other’s posts.
But let's remind ourselves and each other that we now, as of August, get paid for engagement. That is not just for reading time and read: view ratios, but when folks clap for, underline, and comment on our posts.
Knowing this, I make a point of clapping while reading, then underlining, and commenting on salient points — -all part of engagement. Often I’ll highlight a line and click on the comment icon in the menu box. When I do that, the line I’ve highlighted appears in the comment box and I can write my own comment underneath that line. Which I do.
That creates a dialogue between me and the writer. As well as other readers.
And if they comment back, we can keep it going till it runs its course. We get notifications when someone comments on our posts and our comments. So we don’t have to keep checking.
