DRABBLE STORY ARC #4: Boundless Luck
A Gnome, a Guide
A chapter of a ‘choose your own’ story — drabble edition!
This is a continuation of You Are Alive, a Choose Your Own Adventure Story — drabble edition started by Bradan Writes Stories. Find out how to contribute here, or return to the previous chapter: ‘Thanks but no thanks’ by P. L. Goaway or ‘Imps in the Trees’ by JF Danskin.
It’s getting darker the further you walk into the trees. But as luck would have it, it’s a moonlit night. You unsling your bow, wondering whether you can hunt.
Just then, a small figure approaches from your left, and you jump, clutching an arrow tight. “Who are you?” you say.
“A guide,” he replies. “Just one of the local mushroom-gobbling gnomes!”
And you can see that the figure is indeed a gnome. “Nice,” you say. “How much to guide me?”
“Free!” he yelps. “But forget hunting. Help me with a more important mission!”
“What?”
“Treasure! A great sorcerer just died.”
