Summary

The website content outlines a strategy for generating over $25,000 per month through self-publishing by creating and selling 100 niche books with an average of 3 sales per day.

Abstract

The author of the website content, Kristen, has set a financial goal to earn over $25,000 monthly from their publishing business by the end of 2024. They plan to achieve this by leveraging Amazon's platform and algorithm to sell a diverse range of "books," which are primarily activity books, nonfiction books, and other easy-to-create content. These books are produced with the aid of keyword research tools like Helium 10, AI writing assistants such as Jasper AI, and AI audiobook creation tools provided by Google Play and Amazon. The author emphasizes the ease of generating consistent sales by focusing on niche keywords and creating multiple titles around them. The approach involves minimal costs and allows for the creation of audiobooks as an additional income stream, making the goal of earning significant profits a realistic and attainable endeavor.

Opinions

  • The author views their publishing business as a lucrative and enjoyable venture, contrary to the skepticism of friends and family who initially perceive it as a mere hobby.
  • There is a clear distinction made between the time-intensive process of writing traditional novels and the efficiency of creating activity books and using AI tools for content generation.
  • The author values the use of AI writing tools like Jasper AI for their ability to mimic personal writing styles and expedite the content creation process, which they believe is essential for solo creators to scale their output.
  • The author is optimistic about the opportunities presented by AI audiobooks, considering them a cost-effective way to expand income streams without incurring significant production costs.
  • The author encourages readers to consider this publishing model as a viable method for generating income, suggesting that the systematic approach of targeting specific keywords and creating content around them is a strategy that can be replicated by others.

100 “Books” Selling 3 Copies a Day Pays $25,470 Per Month (Profit)

Here’s my plan to achieve this in 2024.

My main financial goal for 2024 is to grow my publishing business to over $25k per month.

That might sound like a lot (or a little), depending on your perspective — but I think it's totally doable.

Currently, I’m about 42% of the way there.

In this post, I want to lay out my strategy for achieving this ambitious goal (mostly to reinforce it for myself) but also for anyone else who may be interested in building something similar.

For context — over the last three years, I’ve been studying the Amazon algorithm like a hawk, “engineering” books based on keyword data, and experimenting with Amazon ads.

I’ve been documenting all of that here.

The Path to $25k a Month

It’s funny — when I tell my “real life” friends (mostly lawyers who hate their jobs) that I’ve been publishing ebooks and “activity books” online, they’re like,

Oh, that sounds like a fun little hobby.

Yeah, it IS fun.

But when I tell them how much I’ve been making with my “fun little hobby,” their eyes get squinty with disbelief, and their jaw drops a little.

And some people (hi dad) don’t even believe it’s possible.

“That’s not a real job,” he’ll say.

Lol, okay, Pops :)

Jokes aside…

When I show you the math on this, I think you’ll be surprised at how “doable” and “realistic” this actually is.

It’s Just Math — Here Are The Numbers

My average royalty per book sale is $2.80.

That’s my profit AFTER printing costs and/or Amazon’s ebook fees.

Therefore —

If I have 100 “books” that each make 3 sales per day, that’s a monthly profit of $25,470.

Generating 3 sales per day is actually pretty easy (if you do a little research first.)

But 100 “Books” Is a LOT of Books, Right!?!

That sounds impossible.

Won’t that take forever???

No.

I put “books” in finger quotes because these books are not NOVELS — which is what most people think of when someone says the word “book.”

Yes, novels can take years to write.

That’s not what I’m doing here.

Most of my “books” are activity books, word searches, sudoku puzzle books, joke books, fun facts for kids, bathroom readers, and other physical books that people can give as holiday/gag gifts.

I wrote about this here.

These books take me a few hours (at most) to create.

And they are really fun to make!

I also publish short nonfiction books that I am able to write quickly with the help of Jasper AI.

Essentially, I choose a topic based on keyword research (done with Helium 10.)

Then, I work with Jasper to create a chapter outline and expand on my ideas through the use of specific prompts.

I can write a 50,000-word nonfiction book this way in 4–6 hours.

What I like about this tool, in particular, is that I can upload a sample of my own writing, which it will analyze and use to “write” in my style and tone of voice.

I can also use it to flesh out and articulate MY ideas by asking it to write sections based on specific concepts that I request.

I know some people have negative feelings about using AI writing tools to create books.

But in this case, I’m not simply asking ChatGPT to “write me a book about ____ topic.”

Good luck with that approach.

Rather, I’m acting as the DIRECTOR for each of these projects and making the CREATIVE decisions, while the AI tool is performing the task of “writing” out my ideas at 1000x the speed that I would be able to on my own.

Jasper also integrates with Grammarly, so I can “edit” and proofread as I go.

As a solo creator, using AI tools like this has dramatically increased my output.

I wouldn’t be able to do all of this on my own without them.

AI Audiobooks

Once the ebook is created, I can turn it into an audiobook for FREE using Google Play or Amazon’s new AI audiobook creation tool.

I think this is one of the biggest new opportunities for creators in 2024.

Creating audiobooks now costs nothing, but it creates a “bonus” income stream on top of ebook and paperback sales.

Love it!

Again, AI audiobooks aren’t the best choice for every author.

But they are perfect for projects like mine.

The Keyword Spreadsheet

If you want to try this method, I recommend spending a few hours putting together a spreadsheet of “keywords” that have the potential to make 3+ sales per day.

You don’t necessarily need 100 keywords.

Some keywords are capable of generating far more than 3 sales per day (see above) and can be used as the SEO foundation for multiple “books.”

Next, come up with a list of 100 titles that you want to create.

Or just start with 10 if 100 feels overwhelming.

Then start working your way down the list!

That’s exactly what I’m doing.

It’s a neat little system that almost anyone could use to make (a little or a LOT of) extra income in 2024.

Here’s something else to keep in mind if you’re considering this —

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Does this seem “doable” to you?
