What can I say August was an interesting month, I joined the Medium platform after watching a YouTube video by Zulie Rane. I was excited by her positivity and passion for writing and found myself, watching more of her videos as she shared her experiences with all her followers.

I decided to have a look at what all the fuss was about, to be honest, I found Medium to be difficult to navigate at first, I was not really sure what a publication was, and found some articles to be confusing, however, I persisted to nose around this new platform that I had just stumbled across.

I joined at the end of July and just looked around to see if anything caught my eye and a few articles did, I decided to jump right in and became a paying member, I was hooked on reading.

I decided to give it a go but was unsure what to write about, I work for a hot tub company, so that was a topic I felt comfortable with, my article was great, or so I thought.

Jacuzzi Hot Tubs, The Real Story, whoo hoo! yes, it was a flop and I earned $0.01, I guess no one really cared about the history, I thought everyone would be a geek like me, sadly this was not the case.

I tried a few more articles, again hot tubs being the topic, I know everything there is to know about them, surely someone else wanted the information I was providing?

So now this was getting frustrating, what should I do? Youtube, let's check out Zulie Rane again, she is an encyclopedia for Medium. I discovered the truth, basically, I’m crap! fortunately, I am also a fighter, so time to put my big girls pants on and try another route.

Without going through all of my 55 articles written in August, I decided to try a few publications and got rejected every day, more determined than ever I found an article by Shelby Church, she is unique, I like her style, she spoke a lot about earnings, so I posted an article about my first few weeks on Medium.

It was a massive success, I earned $0.12, get in there!

I decided, if I was in, I was going balls in and everything, so started my own publication, I had a week off, so on 19th august New Writers Welcome was launched.

We are now at the end of August and my results are in:

I have a whopping 250 followers, and my publication has 105 followers, the publication has just over 2,600 views and nearly a 60% read rate, this has been achieved in just 12 days, so I will just take a moment, stand up and pat myself on the back.

My personal statistics

I have not done this alone, to the people that follow me and my publication, thank you from the bottom of my heart, you have been wonderful, I cannot thank everyone, but have decided to mention a few, so please take a bow.
