9 benefits of owning a hot tub

People purchase a hot tub for many different reasons, for some it is a social aspect, whilst for others, it is spending time with their loved ones, or more common to help with aches and pains.
However more people these days are also purchasing a hot tub for wellbeing and mental health reasons, I am sure you will think of many reasons I have not mentioned.
You may ask the question, what are the real benefits? And do I fit into that category? Well, here are my suggestions on why owning a hot tub is a benefit.

1. Stress relief
Stress results in muscle tension, headaches, fatigue, and soreness. Regular Hot Tub use, through a combination of buoyancy, heat, and massage relieves tension and stress.
Buoyancy eases pressure in joints and muscles, while heat increases blood flow to muscles and accelerates healing. Additionally, Hot tub jets provide therapeutic massage, stimulating the release of endorphins, which are the body’s natural painkiller.

2. Relief from Arthritis and Fibromyalgia
As with arthritis, a study of the effects of hydrotherapy on fibromyalgia patients showed demonstrable benefits. Following a course of hydrotherapy treatment, patients reported improvements in physical functionality, sleep quality, and the ability to do their jobs, accompanied by a reduction in pain intensity, fatigue, stiffness, anxiety, and depression.

3. Improved sleep
31 percent of UK adults say they have insomnia and 48 percent agree they don’t get the right amount of sleep. While a bad night’s sleep can ruin the next day, chronic lack of sleep caused by sleep disorders like insomnia can have a serious impact on your stress levels, mental health, and even your immune system.
Luckily, a daily dip in a hot tub can help you fall asleep soundly every night avoids all these health issues.

4. Family time
Spending time with your family, away from technology, and simply talking or relaxing is a wonderful thing to have and share, it helps to build and bond relationships. Many families use a hot tub like the new kitchen table and a social gathering place and share experiences.

5. Calorie burn
In a small 2016 study, participants soaked in a waist-high hot bath for an hour and burned about the same number of calories as a 30-minute walk. That’s not to say that it should take the place of exercise, but it might help metabolism, particularly for those who find it hard to exercise.

6. Health and Wellness
The combination of heat, natural buoyancy, and massaging action within the water is utilized for a technique known as hydrotherapy.
Hydrotherapy is used to help promote the production and circulation of positive endorphins in your bloodstream. These endorphins can help reduce the feelings of pain and anxiety, helping you to feel much better both physically and emotionally on a regular basis.
If you are the kind of person who likes to stay active, you could use your hot tub to your advantage. There are many exercises that you can easily perform in the comfort of your hot tub, including water yoga, stretching, and aqua aerobics.

7. Speed Muscle Recovery.
Because of the buoyancy of the water, it lightens the load on our bones and muscles when we are in it. And with relaxing warmth added to the equation, buoyancy in a tub of water loosens muscles before a workout or soothes them afterward. This is great for relieving the tension most of us carry around every day, not just after exercise.

8. Remove Toxins.
When you soak in warm water your body temperature increases, causing blood vessels to dilate. This allows for improved circulation which brings in nutrients and oxygen while displacing toxins in areas of weaker blood flow. As our bodies regulate their internal temperature, our pores release moisture that carries away the internal chemical waste.
Thankfully, the benefits of water immersion do not take long to achieve. A 15-minute soak can improve how you think and feel. That is time well spent each and every day.

9. Improve your self-esteem
When you feel good, you have good thoughts. Since spa baths can do all these amazing things for you, the mental benefit is pretty tangible. When you get into a spa bath feeling bad and the bath makes you feel better, it’ll make you feel better about yourself and when you feel good, you feel more confident. A good soak before a big event can help you relax, have more confidence in yourself, and help you be more prepared mentally.
