Why You Should Stop Taking Over The World

And how to deal with your ambition.

Photo by Raul Varzar on Unsplash

This year I have had a self-realization that throughout my life, I have been running from one thing to another. And it becomes a chase that has no end.

As humans, we are wired to want more and more. And we put ourselves out there to get the next big things.

I have been going up all this while and being afraid to miss the next big step if I stop running.

I allowed myself not to take a break because there’s always room for more, to do more.

Realization:

I didn’t realize it until I started side hustling and writing about self-improvement, and productivity, and it made me reflect on my own life.

I learned that I should rather focus on to

1- appreciate my current place in the life

2- take a moment to reflect

2- rest more often, especially mental rest.

I am fairly new to understanding the nooks of writing and can’t wait to take it to the next level.

But at the same time, I stop feeling like I have to take over the world or become the best.

Bigger and better things aren’t always the best.

I have concluded that working for 14–15 hours per day is not a badge of being super productive or highly efficient, especially if you are not enjoying it.

True wealth is owning your time and what you can do with it.

“All my life, been grindin’ all my life

Sacrificed, hustle paid the price.”

- Nipsey Hussle

What is more gratifying:

When I started writing, I always thought I am not good at writing and who will read my writing.

But I did it anyway.

I was scared to publish every time I wrote something. That fear and self-doubt still catches me.

I didn’t believe in myself for a long time but when I got people telling me that they liked what I have to say and resonated with it. It feels more gratifying than anything. And encourages me to do better.

Life will not always go as you plan:

When I speak to people and they tell me the things they planned in their 20s or 30s, none of them actually happened.

So the things I’m currently worrying about probably won’t even matter or may never happen in real life. And I’ll probably be okay.

Every day, I feel I need to work extra hard, so I don’t slip or perhaps I will feel like I don’t deserve good things because I am not working super hard.

It doesn’t always happen the way it does, and that’s good because life takes its own path.

And at the end of the day, it will turn out all okay.

Take away:

I encourage you to take some time off and reflect on your day-to-day.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • What are things that I can control right now or what isn’t?
  • What is actually need vs what I want. Separate need from want.
  • How healthy and intentional are my ambitions?

You may be doing well, and things looks like all rosy and shiny, but truly, are you feeling happy and content?

Think about it.

Be Bold

Be Courageous

Be Your Best
