Thought Leadership
Why are MPP members limited to creating stories and leaving comments?
Thoughts and concerns about constraints on creating stories

PLATFORM CHALLENGES
Challenges working on this platform turn out to be the norm.
Writers need supportive rather than limiting platforms.
Systems should not prevent writers from spreading their words meaningfully.
For example, after leaving a few meaningful and supportive messages on great pieces of ILLUMINATION writers, Medium puts a hard stop with an error message:
“You’ve reached the limit for stories that can be published in one day. Please try again tomorrow”.
Here is the screen capture of this error message.

VIEWPOINTS
Writers in MPP (Medium Partner Program) shouldn’t have severe restrictions like this.
Why should writers wait for another day to spread their words?
What is the purpose of a content development platform for writers?
Don’t they exist to support the content developers?
Acknowledging spam as a concerning point in content development and distribution environments, writers’ leaving meaningful and supportive comments to enhance collaboration shouldn’t be seen as spam.
Writers in the Medium Partner Program should be able to create as many stories as they need and want. This is a reasonable expectation from subscribed writers contributing to the financial health of the platform.
If comments have the risk of spam, why are they considered as stories and stopping writers to submit real stories? Comments are not stories.
Writers need to spread important messages, find their voices, and illuminate their readers. Restrictive systems can limit the creativity and passion of writers. Writers need support, not constraints restricting their creativity and passion.
Rules and regulations are critical. However, they should have a clear purpose. Rather than being a hurdle, rules and regulations should support the creativity, productivity, and passion of content developers.
Looking from the right context, these types of limitations causing constraints for writers are not stated in the Medium Partner Program policy. They seem to be system generated as a blanket rule, i.e., arbitrary rules coded to the artificial intelligence system with no real-life impact assessment.
Where do they come from?
What is the purpose of limiting writers from being prolific and collaborative?
It is difficult to understand the rationale behind system constraints limiting the abilities of writers to write stories and leave comments.
REQUEST FOR FIXING ISSUES
These limitations, restrictions, and constraints need to be assessed logically, considering real-life scenarios, and necessary measures must be taken to keep the writers motivated.
