What Is the Age of Aquarius?
The shift from the Piscean Age into the Aquarian Age

An Exciting but Challenging Time
The speed at which the energy has shifted into a new level of consciousness is really exciting. Astrologers have been talking about the age of Aquarius for so long and it’s finally here, but this can also be a challenging time for many of us because change isn’t always easy.
It’s challenging for us as we move away from the consciousness of the mind into the consciousness of the heart.
Here’s an analogy of the age of Aquarius using technology as an example, since Aquarius is the sign associated with technology:
Imagine that your energy field is used to being plugged into a regular household socket with a normal voltage. You’ve been using this socket for as long as you can remember to power things like your TV, radio, and cell phone.
But suddenly those household sockets stop working and your TV, radio, and cell phones aren’t working. To charge your cellphone and watch TV, you must find a new power system. You go searching but the only thing you could find was a nuclear power plant with high energy and voltage than the household socket you’re used to using.
If you’re used to being plugged into household sockets, you may not like this new powerful energy system very much because it’s too strong and if you’re not very careful, it may even shock you and send painful electrical waves all over your body. But you don’t have any other options because you really need to use your cell phone.
So you unplug from the regular household socket and you go to the nuclear power plant and you plug into that and as soon as you plugged in, you feel the high energy, frequency, and vibration all over your body. At first, it felt as if your entire system is short-circuiting because your system has to handle incredibly high amounts of energy that it wasn’t used to before.
Unplugging and Plugging
Unplugging from household sockets (3-D consciousness) and plugging into the nuclear plant (5-D consciousness) can be uncomfortable, but when you give it some time, you get used to the new wave. You start to adjust to it as your system adapts to the shift in energy. You find out this new energy is faster, better and more effective.
For you to make it through these times, you must have patience for the process, love for the self, and resilience to keep going as your mind, body, and soul makes the shift and gets used to these strong energies.
Unplugging from 3D consciousness to 5-D is a huge shift in consciousness. It may feel different. It may feel weird and strange but different, weird, and strange are all terms associated with the sign of Aquarius.
From An Astrological Perspective
The astrological ages occur because of a motion of the Earth known as precession, which causes the identity of the pole star to change over time.
The cycle of precession lasts 25,800 years, and there are 12 constellations of the zodiac. So, approximately every 2,150 years, the sun’s location — at the time of the March, or vernal equinox — moves backward in front of a new zodiac sign.
The Age of Aquarius begins at the point when the sun is no longer in front of the constellation Pisces at the time of the March equinox. At that point, the equinox sun will be in front of the constellation Aquarius. This means that for the last 2150 years, the earth has been moving from The Age of Pisces into The Age of Aquarius.
This new age of Aquarius will last 2000+ years, which is approximately the next 116 generations before it transitions into the next age — the age of Capricorn.
Because this transition takes many many years and goes through many many generations, there isn’t a lot of agreement among astrologers on when the age of Pisces really ended and the Age of Aquarius actually began but most astrologers agree it started around 2011/2012 because of the shifts in energy that has taken place since.
Also, many people have reported of having spiritual awakenings since 2012.
February 2021 (Aquarius season) saw a massive stellium with five planets — Sun, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn — all aligned in the sign of Aquarius which kicked off the Age of Aquarius. That was a lot of energy and focus in one place, and when you are aware of yourself and the universe, you would feel such a shift.
Aquarius Sun Sign
Aquarius are deep thinkers and highly intellectual people who love helping others. They are the humanitarians of the zodiac and therefore very in tune with the consciousness of their hearts.
They are able to see and perceive without prejudice or bias, which makes them equipped in problem-solving and also matters of the heart. They can quickly adapt to changing energies and although they can easily adapt, they have a strong need for solitude and time alone from everything.
Ruled by Uranus — the planet of change, surprises, shock, and liberation — Aquarius always shows the need for change, separation, rebellion, and a personal search for freedom.
Aquarius is a sign that can quickly and easily adapt to changing energies, and although they can easily adapt to different energies, they have a very strong need for solitude and time alone to recharge.
From An Energy Perspective
The age of Aquarius is the shift from 3-D consciousness into 5-D consciousness. It’s no surprise that so many people from all over the world have woken up.
In the last couple of thousand years, the world has been in the 3D dimension which is the lower level of consciousness or separation consciousness where we perceived ourselves as separate from the whole. In this dimension, we were focused and attached to the material world and we were stuck in the consciousness of the mind, barely using our hearts and listening to our souls.
In this new energy, we move in 5-D consciousness which is unity consciousness where we perceive ourselves as connected and one with everything in the universe.
Once we ascend in our spirituality, we become higher-dimensional beings able to tap into higher levels of consciousness and access higher dimensions. This 5-D consciousness is considered the consciousness of the heart where the heart and soul rules and the mind becomes a powerful instrument to assist in the ascension process.
In the age of Aquarius, we move into 5-D consciousness, where we perceive ourselves as connected and one with everything in the universe.

From A Personal Perspective
Although I wasn’t around when the Piscean age began, I was here when it ended and made way for the Aquarian Age, and like most people; I felt the shift.
It came in strongly for me at the beginning of 2020 when old structures collapsed and our old normals disrupted and we were forced into isolation to be with ourselves as we got ready to exit the consciousness of the mind.
As someone born on the Aquarius/Pisces cusp (cusp of sensitivity), I felt the energies when I suddenly felt the need to retire my Piscean self and step boldly into my Aquarian nature.
My Pisces self is naturally attached to people, places, and things wanting to serve and take care of everybody. My Pisces side is sweet and gentle so I put everybody and their needs before me, but I grew tired of doing so much and thinking so much.
My Aquarius side is more detached and puts my “self” first and serves myself before serving others. My Aquarius side is bold and enjoys standing out and rebelling against rigid and outdated beliefs that were fed to me during the age of Pisces.
When I’m tapped into the Aquarius in me, I have the freedom to be me and to put myself first while serving the world in my own unique way.
The age of Aquarius for me is perfectly aligned with factors in my birth chart. We all have Pisces and Aquarius somewhere in our chart, and if you take a close look at your birth chart — which is a snapshot of the sky at the time of your birth — you will see where you are being called to make a change.
As we’ve entered into this new age, I’m leaning more towards the Aquarius side of me, not because I want to rebel but because the Pisces in me is tired.
The Age of Aquarius calls for us all to unplug from the 3-D consciousness and plug into the 5-D consciousness. If who you’ve been in the past is no longer serving you, you have the option to create a new and improved you no matter what your sun sign is.
The Age of Aquarius has a focus on the self. It symbolizes the improvement of the self in order to help improve the world. It is the era of self-awareness, self-discovery, self-improvement, self-mastery, and self-transformation so we can better connect with the universe around us.
What To Expect in the Age of Aquarius
1. Forward movement
There’s forward momentum occurring in this new energy. Aquarius is an air sign so this new age is ruled by air which propels things forwards. The age of Aquarius is also the consciousness of the heart, and the heart is powered by the air we breathe. Aquarius is an expansive air sign just as the heart expands when we breathe in air.
Aquarius is also a high vibrational sign with Uranus as a ruler, bringing sudden changes and sometimes shock as we unplug and plug into higher frequency and tap into new levels of consciousness.
Uranus laughs at tradition and rigid beliefs and celebrates originality, individuality, and eccentricity. Aquarius is associated with science, technology, innovation, and discovery. All of these things propel us forward in life.
The presence of this air energy blows us forward and depending on how grounded and stable we are will determine whether we are blown towards our purpose or blown farther away from it.
2. Faster Manifestations
The energy of the Age of Aquarius is air and therefore fast and accelerated. This means that things are going to manifest a lot faster. This is great news if you are self-aware and self-conscious of your thoughts and your words and choosing the positive ones.
Our positive thoughts and words manifest at a fast speed, but so does the negative. This is why we must be careful with the thoughts we think, the words we say, and the actions we take.
Your power of manifestation is so much stronger now and you must be very careful what you wish for in this new age because you just might get it.
The likelihood that what you’re thinking and feeling whether positive or negative is going to manifest is pretty high in the Age of Aquarius.
3. Free Thinking
From the age of Pisces into the Age of Aquarius, we are moving from a dominant left hemisphere kind of thinking which has to do with the consciousness of the mind — the age of rationality and logicality into the right hemisphere kind of thinking which has to do with the consciousness of the heart — the age of intuitive thinking. We are starting to feel more than we think.
Like the Aquarius, most of us will be adopting new ways of thinking about situations and new ways of seeing the world. We will be standing up and fighting for ourselves and what we believe in.
We are also called to be cautious and careful about our thoughts. We are being asked to change our mindset into a more positive, more optimistic, more forward-looking so we can gain freedom from our minds.
We are free in our thinking, but if you have a negative mindset, it’s going to become hard living in the age of Aquarius because you'll end up manifesting more negative situations.
The age of Aquarius is not only propelling us forward into technological innovation, we are being propelled to innovate the way we think and the way we use our minds.
4. Personal sovereignty
Many people are waking up all over the world, and they are waking up to their personal power. People are becoming more sovereign and able to stand out with no fear and stand tall in their power.
We’re all waking up and realizing the power we have and also with the responsibility we have in using that power. We’re no longer relying on politicians, celebrities, priests, rabbis, pastors, and presidents to tell us how we must live our lives. Instead, we are living from our hearts.
We’re not relying on anything outside of ourselves because we realize that we alone have the power to change our lives. We stop looking at other people to be our leaders and we rise up and lead ourselves and our lives.
We are moving from the age of the mind to the age of the heart where we are learning to use our own internal compass and our own intuitive guidance to lead the way.
The more sovereign you are, the more in alignment you are with your soul.
Heart Chakra Activations
The element of the heart chakra is air, and that’s really interesting as we enter the Age of Aquarius, which is also ruled by air.
To get the most out of this new age, we are asked to look at the state of our heart chakra and work on strengthening and releasing any blockages that may be blocking us from innovating our thinking patterns, moving forward into our purpose, manifesting our desires, and standing tall in our personal sovereignty.
The heart and the heart chakra play a really important role in the Age of Aquarius because we are entering the age where using our hearts will lead us where we need to go.
We will feel our way forward in life instead of thinking our way, and that is a really different shift from what we’re used to in the past. This isn’t to say we are retiring the mind and we will no longer be using our minds. Not at all.
The mind is a powerful faculty, but it is only an instrument and not the commander of our lives. The mind comes in through thought, planning, and structure only after we’ve consulted with the heart, heard our intuition, and felt our way through it.

How To Thrive in the Age of Aquarius
1) To thrive in this new age, we must be in our heart space more, and being in our hearts means breathing more and also learning to use our intuition. Once you start focusing on the air moving through your lungs and on the beating of your heart, something will shift in you because you direct excess energy from the mind into your heart center.
When this happens, you may find that you're developing a strong passion for creating a beautiful world not just for yourself but also for others in the world. The heart is home to high vibrational emotions like love and gratitude, so we will be in a high state of being that will help us create and co-create with the universe.
2) We must allow ourselves to feel and guide ourselves from thinking to feeling. You must allow yourself to go with the feeling more than the thought, and making this change will take a bit of practice.
Sometimes we get a strong feeling about a certain thing and the mind can't even explain why we want to do something but at that moment, you know you must do it, and when you're asked why or to explain, you say “I don't know. I just have a feeling and I can't explain.”
More of the “I can't explain” is happening in the Age of Aquarius.
You must allow yourself to be guided more by what you feel. Feeling your way through life will lead you to the places you need to be, and out of situations that could cause harm, but being guided by your feelings isn't the same as being guided by your emotions.
A feeling it’s an intuitive nudge coming from your heart and a signal your heart gives you to send you a certain way. These feelings arise from the inside. Emotion is a bit different. Emotions are energy processes that are happening in your body that are usually associated with something happening on the outside.
Here’s an example: You may have fears (emotion) about going through with a surgical procedure and that's normal, but you may get the feeling that the person who will operate on you is not the right person for the job.
You may be asked why you feel fear and you can say you fear being cut into. Everybody will understand that. They will ask you why you must find a new person to operate and you will say you don't know, it's just a feeling and you can’t explain.
That will be the age of Aquarius playing out in your life.
Fear as an emotion may tell you not to have the surgery altogether because it’s dangerous going under the knife, but your intuition as a feeling may tell you to find a new person to operate on you. We must use our hearts first to feel our way and then use our minds to plan and structure.
3) The age of Aquarius calls for us to stand tall in our power like the Aquarius. To stand in our power, we must work on and strengthen our solar plexus chakra which is the chakra responsible for personal power. The Age of Aquarius is an age where we are so much in our power that we will no longer look to the outside world to make us feel safe, loved, and secure.
We will not look to a president, politician, pastor, spouse, or anybody outside of ourselves to feel a sense of purpose. We are going to be completely in our power and rely on our own inner guidance or intuition to lead us where we need to go.
The age of being led by others is over. We are in the age where we will be led to lead ourselves.
We are becoming our own leaders and that's because there is a solar plexus chakra activation happening all over the planet. To thrive in the age of Aquarius, you must have a strong solar plexus to be unique and walk in your own path, allowing your heart and intuition to guide you and lead yourself where you need to go.
4) To thrive in the age of Aquarius, you must work on your mindset. This is a time of innovation and not just in technology but also innovation in our thinking.
A shift in mindset is so important in this age because if you remain stuck in your old way of thinking; if you remain in the consciousness of the mind and are close-minded to new ideas, you miss out on amazing opportunities to speed up the evolvement of your soul.
We must shift into a mindset that's positive, forward-looking, and solution-driven.
A mindset that's stuck in the past and stuck in negative thinking gets stuck in a negative loop manifesting more negativity, and then life becomes unnecessarily hard.
If you have a mindset that's stuck in negative thought forms or a very strong inner critic that's constantly putting you down, it must be dealt with quickly because if you hold on to this kind of negative mindset, you're going to pull your energy down while the energy of the age of Aquarius is working to pull you up. This would create so much suffering for you and those around you, and that's no way to be.
More of the “I can’t explain” energy is happening in the Age of Aquarius.
Final Thoughts
The Age of Aquarius has a strong focus on the self and on feeling.
It symbolizes the improvement of the self in order to help improve the world. It is the era of self-awareness, self-discovery, self-improvement, self-mastery, and self-transformation so we can better connect with the universe around us.
Unplugging from 3D consciousness to 5-D is a huge shift in consciousness and it may feel different, weird, or strange but different, weird, and strange are all terms associated with the sign of Aquarius.
The age of Aquarius will be the end of suffering but we must all play a part so when the age of Capricorn gets here in the next 2000 years, the younger generation is more equipped to listening to the heart and intuition, standing tall in their own personal power, and having an optimistic and positive mindset.
We must all make certain changes in our lives in order to be able to flow with this energy so that suffering ceases to exist.
