Most people think Aquarius is this cold, detached rebel who is closed off to the world, but they don't really understand the true nature of Aquarius. Aquarius is born in the coldest time of the year and is, therefore, no surprise they appear a little cold.
Aquarius is a fixed sign who is quite fixed in their ways with little inclination to change or please others, but as the sign of the water bearer, they come bearing all that is wisdom and knowledge of the world. They seem detached because they are deep thinkers with a lot on their minds. As an air sign, Aquarius is always coming up with new and brilliant ideas.
Aquarians are some of the most unique individuals you will ever meet. They are innovative and aren’t afraid to think outside the box. They aren’t afraid to rebel against society’s strict and rigid rules either.
Aquarians are original, eccentric, and very intelligent. They are the humanitarians of the zodiac who work for the betterment of humanity in their own special way, which you may or may not understand. They love to help people and initiate positive change.

Aquarians are loners who have a deep need to be alone and away from everything, in order to restore balance. They are reserved, quiet, and like to stay away from the spotlight. They’d rather spend time in deep thought, especially when it pertains to matters of society.
They are friendly in social settings, but at the end of the day, they retreat and withdraw into their own space because it is the most comfortable for them.
Because of their strong desire for solitude, they may come across as emotionless, but that’s not the case at all. Aquarius feels everything. They don’t always show their emotions, but when they do, it’s in quick, sudden bursts that seemingly come out of nowhere. When they show any type of emotion, it's often unexpected and may take you by surprise.
Aquarius is the most different out of all the zodiac signs, and because of how different they are, they are often misunderstood. They’ve spent most of their life feeling alienated and left out, and so deep down, they want to feel understood and accepted, but they won’t tell you that.
What an Aquarius Really Needs
Aquarius needs plenty of alone time to think and recharge. They need to be alone to be in touch with their souls, so they can bring wisdom and insights to others. If an Aquarius want to be alone, don’t take it personally because it's not. They just need you to respect their wishes and trust that they will reach out when they're ready.
Aquarius cherish their freedom and independence more than anything else and aim to extend it to everyone else. It’s important to respect the Aquarius' need for independence or they will be very unhappy with you.
Despite their strong need to be alone, Aquarius needs a friend when they are ready to come out of hibernation. Even if it's just one person who’ll be there for them without being overbearing.
Aquarius is an air sign that uses his mind at every opportunity. When they do come out of hibernation, they need mental stimulation or they will go right back. Without it, they quickly become bored and uninterested. You need to be able to engage in complex and intellectual conversations in order to get them interested. They long for relationships that value not only mental connection but also honesty.
Aquarians pride themselves on their originality, individuality, and eccentricity. It’s not uncommon for Aquarians to embrace their creativity and uniqueness, even if it makes them stand out from others in an odd or unconventional way.
If you’re hoping to get along with an Aquarius, you must be willing to embrace their quirks. Aquarius wouldn't want to be friends with anyone who might criticize them or try to get them to change their ways.
What an Aquarius Want You to Understand
Aquarians dislike being emotionally vulnerable, so it can be difficult for them to keep friends. Friendship requires vulnerability, which is something they can’t afford. Aquarius wants to be friends, but it takes time for them to feel truly connected to somebody on an emotional level. They want to connect on a mental level first and once you show them they can trust you; they are very caring and kind.
Aquarius has a reputation for being cold and insensitive, but this is just their defense mechanism against premature and forced intimacy. Aquarius wants you to engage with them, but they want you to find common ground so you can discuss shared interests like science, technology, or metaphysics. Once you can stimulate their minds, they will want to be friends forever.
Once you’ve become friends, Aquarians will be loyal and cherish you as a person, just as long as you don’t betray them. Careful not to anger or cross them or the relationship will end right there and then. They’re not ones to easily forgive.
Aquarius doesn’t like showing their emotions, so when something really riles them up, it’s typically a result of several things that have been bottled up for a very long time.
