Coaching

This is WHY I started coaching

Part 1 — My purpose as a coach in a corporate world

You know what is more expensive than a missed opportunity, it’s the deprivation of it.

After spending more than a decade in the corporate software industry, I never had access to a coach. This is why I never experienced what being coached would feel like. The only people I knew, who had access to professional coaches, were the higher management and executives. Why didn't I fit the bill to get access to such professional coaching at work?

Ask yourself if you had access to a coach and for free, would you grab the opportunity? If you answered yes, then do not hesitate to get in touch.

Many coaches I know out there are filled with pride in being executive and leadership coaches. But what about people like me who aren’t executives, but require help to grow and develop?

Will you coach me?

NO.

That was the answer I received from someone on LinkedIn who had the title “Leadership Coach, helping YOU become the best version of yourself”. That YOU didn’t include me. I was judged by my profile (because it didn’t include the leadership rank) and was immediately disqualified from getting access to coaching from a professionally accredited coach.

After a series of self-reflections, this really hit me hard and deeply. So, I decided to be that person who could make coaching accessible to people who truly deserved to unlock their potential. And this isn’t limited to a rank. If I ever coach, it has to be beyond the walls of the executive cabins.

People, unless coached, never reach their maximum capability. -Bob Nardelli

A few years fast-forward to today and here I am, on my coaching journey to genuinely help YOU unlock your potential, irrespective of your status, rank, ability, colour, religion, and gender.

You can only be a better leader if you are coachable yourself. And being coachable requires a growth mindset filled with humility, and courage to adapt to change. And if you’re thinking about whether I have a coach, the answer is YES. It's only with the help of my coach, that I was able to realize my potential and question my abilities to trot the fewer-ridden paths.

My best skill was that I was coachable. I was a sponge and aggressive to learn. — Michael Jordan

This is WHY I started coaching

For the emerging VUCA world, the Forbes article mentions,

Disruption demands a fresh approach, particularly where people are concerned. Amid the uncertainty, the best management model isn’t based on accountability, guidelines or even cultural norms. In times of change and uncertainty, the most effective leadership model is based on coaching.

Are you coachable?

If your answer is NO, it’s time to go and find your WHY!
