This is Why 99% of the Writers Fail

This became the main driver of my progress in writing and any other aspect of my life!

Have you ever tried and failed and then tried again? The exact same thing the exact same way?

Don’t worry, I’ve been there too. We all have.

Did you know humans are the only living creatures on this planet who try the same thing over and over again and expect a different result?

This would be a great joke, ONLY if it wasn’t so sad…

But it’s also true.

Why?

It’s in your human nature to avoid change at any cost. It’s a survival mechanism you can’t escape.

So whenever you fail, you do whatever else you can think of except…change:

  • you complain and play the victim
  • you become aggressive
  • you run away crying

This is a pivotal moment, which defines whether you succeed as a writer or not. In this moment 99% of the writers decide their destiny and choose not to succeed. Just when it takes just one simple thing: change.

“You don’t fail as long as you learn. You fail only when you stop” — someone wize I guess

Ok, so I have to never give up, right?

NO!

At least, not just that!

The point of “never giving up” is not to stubbornly try the same thing over and over again. It’s to learn from failure, change and improve.

The problem?

If there’s no stress, there’s no progress. You grow when you face a challenge. Learning a new skill is a challenge. Writing better is a challenge. Gaining followers is a challenge. Increasing your read ratio is a challenge. Taking a new job is a challenge. Getting promoted is a challenge.

And you know what?

You’re always the rookie. Regardless of your experience or knowledge, when you start something new, you’re….well…new! Meaning you make mistakes and you fail.

And that’s exhausting. Can be mentally draining. It’s easier to give up. Or maybe just try one more time. Maybe this time some magic happens?

It doesn’t.

The difference?

The difference between the top 1% of writers and the rest 99% is that they embrace failure. They never stop learning. They take failure as a learning experience, so they:

  • analyze,
  • change,
  • try something new,
  • fail again,
  • and repeat until they succeed.

Every writer’s journey is full of “No’s”. J.K. Rowling? Twelve rejections before Harry Potter found a home. Stephen King? Thirty rejections for Carrie.

Each “No” brings you closer to your “Yes”.

It’s not just about getting published or succeeding with writing. It’s about refining, learning, and evolving. And just when it seems logical to give up, just then pushing through makes all the difference.

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” — Thomas Edison

Do something different today. Change starts from within. Learn to love failure. Learn to seek change.

This is the only way you grow.
