I found that short-form plays a major role in improving my Medium performance. Want proof? Check my weekly reviews.
And this is why:
1. Readability: Less is more
The average American reads at the level of 7th or 8th grade, while 54% of adults have literacy below 6th-grade level!
- In the short form, you unintentionally lower the readability grade. Even if you don’t check the grade of your writing.
Where to check readability: I use the Hemingway App. It’s free.
2. Instant Engagement
Readers love quick, digestible content.
- Short form grabs attention faster than long form.
- Millennials and Gen Z prefer short concise information.
3. Higher Consumption Rates
Do an experiment: write a short article and a long one. Compare read ratio. It’s higher!
- Short is more likely to be read from start to finish.
- Increases the chances of your content being shared.
Medium’s algorithm loves high read ratio.
Wrapping it up
Short-form isn’t just a trend, it’s not evolution, it’s a revolution! It’s the TikTok of writing!
The more digital we become, the more choices we have, the more distractions we face, the faster we want to consume.
Less is more! Readability is key. The future of writing is in the short, and it’s bright. 🌟
Thanks for reading!
