My Top 5 Publications on Medium for New Writers

If you’re new to writing on Medium, you’ll have to consider these 5 publications

Recently I did research about the top most-read publications on Medium. But they’re not suitable for new writers, not all of them.

If you’re a new writer, I have a “start-here” list.

My criteria?

  • Easy admission, new-writer friendly, no review process
  • Give you more views and reads
  • No specific topics required

Some of them have slightly more requirements than Medium Guidelines, and some can nominate your stories for a boost. But all are pretty awesome!

How publications work:

  1. A publication is a place similar to Facebook groups — you need admission. Look for the “Write for Us” or “Submission rules” or similar titles, usually pinned or linked in the profile.
  2. You apply. Editors add you as a writer.
  3. You submit by clicking on “Add to publication” in your article setting menu. Editors check your article and publish it.

That’s it! No rocket science!

Ready? This is my list!

The TOP 5 Publications List:

  1. The Ultimate Leader, #1 in views from all Medium pubs: ILLUMINATION. It’s not just one, they’re a portfolio of publications, but you have to apply for each. The best part: they can nominate you for a boost, read here! You can submit after you publish your story, no drafts are required! Read how to apply here.
  2. My go-to for shorts: The Shortform. You have to submit a draft, but it can be anything for as long as it’s up to 150 words! Apply here.
  3. The Long-and-Short.Sweet.Valuable. That’s right: those are two publications owned by the same people— one for up to 300 words and the other for more than 300. No drafts are required. Apply here and here.
  4. The Read or Die! It’s encouraging writers to also engage with each other and read daily something from the pub. No drafts are required. Apply here.
  5. My beloved CREATIVETECH Friends — For Friends of Medium only. Made to utilize the FOMs benefits in favor of FOMs only. No drafts are required. Apply here.

Ready? Steady! Go!
