February Income Report: I got a viral story and surpassed my second most earning month
Today is that special day when you all read my story to know how much money I earned in the last month. I always try to be transparent about my earnings on Medium. Because I want to motivate more people to try writing on Medium and make some money here.
You may know that I share all my stats and earnings at the end of every month. And as you know, February is gone now. So, today I will be explaining all my stats and earnings on Medium.
February came up with some very ups and some very downs. First of all, I will discuss the ups and then I will discuss the downs.
So, there were so many ups in February. In February, I was running a challenge to write a story every single day. And luckily, after completing writing 25 stories in 25 days, I got a viral story. You can read it below;
This story went viral and made me so much money and attracted so many new readers to my profile. The spike in my views lasted from day 25th to day 30th. The story performed really well for five days but after that, the downfall of February started.
After the ups of February, the downs started to act. After all the good five days, my viral story suddenly went from 170 views and a read-time of 1hr and 29mins to 0 views and 0 read-time.
I got so disappointed because how can a viral story get 0 views in its peak time.
So, after the disappointments of my viral story, I mistakenly broke my everyday writing challenge. But I recovered it by starting another challenge to write two stories every day instead of writing just one.
And here all the ups and downs ends.
So, talking about my stats in February. I got such a massive spike in my views and earnings after my story went viral. But after that, I am constantly getting 50 views every day even after writing two stories every day. Although I used to get 80 to 100 views every day when I used to write one story a day.
I don’t know what’s the problem but I am facing it and waiting for some good to happen.
Let’s see how my stats performed in February;
My stats in February
There were no clear goals for the month of February, but I had some expectations. And unfortunately, I didn’t complete any of them.
- In February, I expected to get more than 5,000 views. But I ended up getting 2,790 views with 907 reads. Which is almost 35%. I expected 5,000 views because I was writing a story every day. And after that, I started writing two stories every day. But all my expectations were wrong.
- I wanted to complete 500 followers by the end of February. But ended up getting only 53 followers with 1 email subscriber and 0 referred members. Except for my initial month, this is the month with the fewest followers gained.
- In February, I expected to gain 500 fans. But I got only half of that, I got only 254 fans in the month of February. I wanted to get more fans because fans play a bigger role in making your story viral.
- Now, let’s get to the most-awaited statistic “the earnings”. In February, I was expecting to earn more than $50 but ended up getting $31.95. This is my second most earning month on Medium.
You may be surprised because I didn’t complete any of my goals in February. The only good in February was the second most earning month. But even that wouldn’t be possible if one of my stories didn’t go viral. Because I earned most of the money from that one story.

The first one is the story that went viral In February. It contributed so much to February’s earnings. The second and fourth are also the stories that I wrote in February. And the fifth one is a story that I wrote in January.
But the story on number three has a long story. It’s a story that went viral in September and become the most earning story for four consecutive months. And now, it got third place in February’s five most earning stories.
