This Insane Battle Royale Is Going Free-To-Play Next Week

Nakara: Bladepoint is a crazy-looking battle royale game that will become F2P in less than a week.

So, I’ve talked about a bunch of battle royale games in my past stories. You can find the links to those at the end of this post. But today, I want to dive into battle royale games again and talk about this cool game called Nakara: Bladepoint. Guess what? It’s gone free-to-play now!

What is a battle royale game?

Battle royale games are like the Hunger Games, where you’re dropped into a virtual battleground with a bunch of other players and it’s an all-out fight to be the last person standing. It’s like a digital deathmatch on steroids!

Imagine you start off on a big map, usually an island or a sprawling landscape, and you gotta scavenge for weapons, armor, and other goodies to give yourself a fighting chance.

You start with nada, just the clothes on your back, so you gotta hustle and search high and low for anything that’ll help you survive. It’s like going on a shopping spree, but instead of fancy boutiques, you’re raiding houses, warehouses, and maybe even the odd llama or two if you’re playing Fortnite.

Now, here’s the catch: There’s a circle or a storm or some other ominous force that keeps shrinking the playable area. If you get caught outside this safe zone, you’re toast. It adds this whole level of tension and forces you to keep moving and stay on your toes. Camping in a corner won’t do you any good here!

But it’s not just about running and gunning. Battle Royale games require strategy too. You gotta think about where you drop from the sky, where you head first, and when to engage in a fight.

Do you go for the hotspots with more loot and action, or do you play it safe and try to avoid confrontation until you’re better equipped? It’s all about risk versus reward.

And let’s not forget about the social aspect. Most battle royale games have online multiplayer, so you can team up with your buddies or even make new friends from around the world.

It’s like having a virtual squad of comrades to watch your back and celebrate those sweet, sweet victories with. There’s nothing quite like the adrenaline rush of taking down an enemy squad and being the last ones standing!

Battle royale games have exploded in popularity over the years, with titles like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), Fortnite, and Apex Legends leading the pack. They’ve become a cultural phenomenon, with professional esports tournaments, streamers making big bucks, and even celebrities jumping on the bandwagon.

Nakara: Bladepoint is going F2P?

Hey guys, listen up! NetEase’s awesome battle royale game Naraka: Bladepoint is going free-to-play next week. They’re celebrating the game’s launch on PS5 by opening the floodgates for everyone to give it a shot without spending a dime. This change kicks in on Thursday, July 13.

NetEase has a handy FAQ to explain why they made this move two years after the game’s release in 2021. But here’s the important part:

“All in-game content is available to free players, including all game modes, events, cosmetics, character customization, etc.”

So, if you download the game after July 13, you won’t be left out of the paid players’ club.

Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s not a total equalizer. Players who bought the game or decide to splurge on some in-game currency will enjoy some perks and advantages over the free-to-play crowd.

For instance, free players will have a slower rate of unlocking new heroes, earning only 35 Hero Coins per week while it takes 100 Coins to unlock a new character. On the other hand, paid players can hoard as many Coins as they want.

Paying up will also give you a head start. Both free and paid players start with access to heroes Viper, Tianhai, Zipin Yin & Matari, but those who spent money will receive a cool 300 Hero Coins (equivalent to three heroes) to spend as they please.

Paid players will also unlock ranks at level 20 and lobby chat at level 5, while free-tier players have to reach level 50 and level 20, respectively.

You can find all the juicy details about the transition on Naraka’s Steam news page. They’re introducing a new 12 vs. 12 mode, and there’s news about discounts, and special unlocks.

Final Words

Naraka: Bladepoint boasts a player count of around 90,000 as I’m speaking and has secured a spot in the top 10 most-played games on Steam.

This surprises me since I rarely hear people talk about this game like they do about Fortnite.

I guess it’s probably a big hit in non-English-speaking countries. But hey, its popularity is a good thing.

Just mark your calendars and wait for July 13 to witness the transformation firsthand.
