PUBG’s Roadmap Showcases a Bunch of New Content Planned for the Future
A new game engine, map, and mods may be coming soon to PUBG.

PUBG Studios, the developers of the popular battle royale game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), have recently released a roadmap detailing what players can expect from the game in the near future and beyond. Here’s a list of notable changes planned for the future.
New Game Engine
Perhaps the most significant change being considered is the potential switch to a new game engine. According to PUBG Studios, the developer is testing the game on a new engine with the aim of ensuring the game’s longevity for years to come.
The studio has stated that it is currently testing out various options and attempting to port one of its maps to the new engine version.
However, the developer has also cautioned that it is not yet decided whether this transition will be possible, but it is doing its best to give it a try. PUBG Studios has promised to provide updates as details are still being ironed out.
Modding
In addition to the potential engine switch, PUBG Studios is also exploring the possibility of adding modding to the game. This has been a highly requested feature from fans, and if implemented, it would allow players to create and share game modes and maps.
However, the studio has not confirmed whether it will follow through and actually release this feature.
Destruction Elements
Another feature being considered is the addition of new destruction elements, which could add a new level of strategy to the game. This would allow players to alter their surroundings, adding a fresh dynamic to the classic PUBG gameplay formula.
Although not all of these challenges may become a reality, the studio believes they are worth pursuing and will inevitably lead to a new era for PUBG. The studio hopes players will join them on this exciting journey towards an even more thrilling battle royale experience.
Less Stressful, More Enjoyable Matches
On the more immediate horizon, PUBG Studios is focusing on making standard PUBG matches less stressful and more enjoyable overall. In 2023, the developer aims to alleviate stress factors and increase enjoyment by providing a variety of content.
Changes planned to improve normal matches include improving item/Blue Zone/vehicle spawn rates, revamping tactical gear, and adding a new revive system.
The studio’s overall intent is to minimize stress in normal matches by improving various elements without compromising the core gameplay.
Gunplay Changes
Regarding gunplay changes, PUBG Studios plans to reach a balance between 5.56mm and 7.62mm weapons to offer a better experience. The studio is also looking into the possibility of adding under-barrel attachments and “resistance” to add new mechanics and create interesting gameplay.
This will allow players to make strategic choices with weapons they have not used often and eventually lead to a variety of choices that match each player’s playstyle.
New Map/Gameplay System
One of the most exciting new features coming to PUBG in 2023 is a new map called Neon. This map described as one of the “biggest challenges” the studio has ever faced, aims to offer something new for the world of PUBG.
The creation of this map was inspired by one of the most unique places on earth that combines both modern and traditional elements.
The Neon map will feature multiple areas, ranging from a modern city full of gleaming skyscrapers to a more traditional rural area, creating a truly unique atmosphere that hasn’t been seen in PUBG yet.
PUBG Studios is also planning a “new gameplay system” for the Neon map that will offer a “new way of obtaining items” that could shake up the core gameplay dynamics.
The team is also planning to add new unique weapons, cars, dynamic weather, and other cool visuals to this map.
Anti-Cheat Improvements
Another aspect that PUBG Studios plans to improve in the future is its anti-cheat system. Cheating has been a persistent problem in online multiplayer games, and PUBG is no exception.
To combat this issue, the developer plans to implement new anti-cheat measures, including improved detection and stronger penalties for cheaters.
Improved Social Features
The studio is also planning to improve the game’s social features, including a clan system that will allow players to join and create clans, communicate with other members, and participate in clan-related activities.
The team is also exploring the possibility of adding cross-platform play, which would allow players on different platforms to play together.
Improved Tutorial System
In addition, PUBG Studios is working on improving the tutorial system to help new players learn the game’s mechanics more easily. The team is also looking into ways to make the game more accessible to players with disabilities.
The roadmap post also mentions that PUBG Studios is using advanced machine learning systems to improve the game.
The developer is using machine learning algorithms to analyze gameplay data and identify patterns and trends that can help improve the game’s balance and performance.
This data is then used to make adjustments to the game’s mechanics, weapons, and other systems.
Final Words
The PUBG roadmap offers a glimpse into the future of the popular battle royale game.
With a new map, potential changes to the game engine, improved anti-cheat measures, and a variety of gameplay additions and improvements, PUBG Studios is working to keep the game fresh and engaging for its millions of players around the world.
While some of the features mentioned in the roadmap post may not come to fruition, the fact that the developer is actively working to improve the game is a promising sign for fans.
With new content and updates planned for 2023 and beyond, PUBG players have a lot to look forward to in the coming months and years.
