Ranked play in Fortnite?

Alright, buckle up and get ready to hear all about the latest Fortnite update, my fellow gamers! The Fortnite Team at Epic has decided to spice things up by adding a ranked play feature in the game.

So, forget about those temporary leaderboards and limited-time modes like Solo Showdown and Blitz Showdown. This new addition determines your worth and labelsyou as Silver, Gold, or whatever suits your fancy.

Say goodbye to Arena mode because it’s getting the boot, making way for the highly-anticipated ranked play in the upcoming v24.40 update. You might be wondering how this ranking system will work, right? Well, it’s based on a few factors.

The number of will determine your progress kills you rack up during a match, with kills of high-ranked players and kills later in the game worth even more. Placement at the end of the match will also play a role.

A progress bar will keep you updated on how close you are to reaching the next rank or sliding back down to the previous one. And brace yourselves for team matchmaking because it will be based on the highest-ranked player in each team.

But hold on, there are a couple of balance changes happening too. The material caps are getting a Nerf, dropping down from 999 to 500. However, don’t worry too much because harvesting rates will be slightly increased to ease the pain. Oh, and get this: when you bite the dust in a match, you’ll drop 50 of each material. So make sure to grab those resources from your defeated foes.

Now, let’s talk about the ranks themselves. You’ll have the chance to work your way up through eight categories: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite, Champion, and Unreal.

The Bronze through Diamond ranks will be split into three tiers, while Elite, Champion, and Unreal will have a single tier each. Reaching the Unreal rank will earn you a spot on the leaderboard, and a number next to your name will show off your standing. It’s like wearing a badge of honor!

Ranked play won’t be limited to just battle royale matches. You can also hop into zero-build duos and show off your skills there. Just toggle the option in the lobby before finding a match. However, if you’re a new player itching to jump into ranked play, you’ll have to complete a quest first and outlast 500 opponents. Consider it a rite of passage.

Now, here’s the scoop on the timeline. Ranked Season Zero will run until the end of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3. This period will give the developers a chance to iron out any kinks and address concerns before officially ranked seasons begin following the same schedule as regular ones.

Plus, if you’re up for some sweet rewards, completing a Ranked Urgent Quest before the end of a match will earn you seasonal cosmetics. And the final reward for Season Zero? An epic emote called the Burn Bright Emote proudly displays your rank color.
