The Witcher Spinoff Game by CD Projekt Gets a Makeover with New Vision
Molasses Flood took a breather from Project Sirius, but guess what? They hit the restart button, and it’s back in action!

In a few of my previous stories, I’ve talked about the awesome games and projects from CD Projekt Red. You can find all the cool stuff I mentioned linked at the end of this post, so make sure to check it out.
But today, I want to dive into CD Projekt itself and share some exciting updates about their latest project, Project Sirius. Get ready for a fun and informative read!
Who is CD Projekt Red, and what are they known for?
CD Projekt Red is a legendary game development studio that has massively impacted the gaming world. Let’s dive into who they are and what they’re known for.
CD Projekt Red, also called CDPR, is a Polish video game developer who has become a household name among gamers. They’ve been around since the late ’90s, but it wasn’t until they released“The Witcher” series that they truly skyrocketed to fame.
Now, “The Witcher” is not your ordinary fantasy franchise. It’s a gritty, dark, and mature series that follows the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, a badass monster hunter with a silver mane and a dry wit. CD Projekt Red took Andrzej Sapkowski’s popular book series and transformed it into an immersive and groundbreaking gaming experience.
The first game in “The Witcher” series dropped in 2007, and let me tell you, it blew everyone’s socks off! The lush open world, the morally complex choices, and the captivating storylines kept players glued to their screens for hours on end. CDPR’s dedication to crafting an immersive and authentic fantasy world earned them a devoted fan base.
But “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” truly solidified CD Projekt Red’s position as gaming royalty. This masterpiece of a game, released in 2015, pushed boundaries and raised the bar for what an open-world RPG could achieve. From its jaw-dropping graphics to its intricate quests and unforgettable characters, “The Witcher 3” was a game-changer.
CD Projekt Red’s unwavering commitment to quality and its player-centric approach sets it apart. They’re not just in it for the quick cash grab; they genuinely care about delivering an exceptional gaming experience. They listen to their fans, address concerns, and even release free DLCs to further enhance the game.
One thing gamers worldwideappreciate about CD Projekt Red is its “no DRM” policy. They believe in treating players with respect, allowing them to fully own and enjoy the games they purchase without pesky digital rights management restrictions. This has earned them massive goodwill and loyalty from the gaming community.
CDPR’s dedication to their craft and fans reached anew level when they announced “Cyberpunk 2077.” This futuristic, neon-drenched RPG was one of the most highly anticipated games ever.
With the promise of an immersive cyberpunk world, mind-bending technology, and Keanu freaking Reeves, the hype was through the roof.
However, it wouldn’t be a roller coaster ride without a few bumps. “Cyberpunk 2077” faced serious challenges during its release, particularly on older consoles.
The game was criticized for its technical issues and performance on certain platforms. CD Projekt Red took this feedback seriously and committed to fix and improve the game through several updates and patches.
Despite the rocky launch, CDPR’s commitment to its players remained unwavering. They offered refunds, apologized for the issues, and promised to make things right. This level of accountability and dedication to improvement further solidified its reputation as a studio that genuinely cares about its fans.
CD Projekt Red’s impact extends beyond their own games. They’ve also created GOG.com, a digital distribution platform focused on DRM-free games. GOG.com has become a go-to destination for gamers who value owning their games and supporting independent developers.
What’s going on with Project Sirius?
CD Projekt just dropped some juicy news about Project Sirius, that awesome Witcher spinoff game being cooked up by Molasses Flood. So, back in March, things hit a snag, and the game had a bit of trouble.
CD Projekt took a good look at the original concept, weighed the scope and commercial potential, and decided to write off all the development expenses up to that point. But fear not, because they weren’t ready to give up just yet!
Fast forward two months, and guess what? Sirius is back on track! CD Projekt just released a regulatory report today, and they spilled the beans about completing the work on defining a new framework for the project. The folks at Molasses Flood have been hard at work, making sure this reboot hits the mark.
And get this, the reversal of the development cost write-offs announced in March is on the horizon. Turns out, they didn’t have to start from scratch after all. They’re building upon the already-developed elements of the game. Talk about making the most of what you’ve got, right?
Now, I know you want more details, but unfortunately, CD Projekt is playing it coy for now. They didn’t spill all the beans just yet. According to a studio rep, they’re excited about the updated direction but not ready to spill the tea. Patience, my friend, patience.
Here’s the thing, though. Even before the March reset, we didn’t know much about Sirius. CD Projekt has called it an “innovative take on The Witcher universe,” being developed by Molasses Flood. You might remember Molasses Flood from their 2016 roguelike river adventure, The Flame in The Flood.
CD Projekt snatched them up in 2022, and now they’re bringing their unique touch to this spinoff. But that’s not all! They’re also working on an all-new Witcher trilogy and a remake of the original Witcher RPG, codenamed Canis Majoris. It’s a wild time to be a Witcher fan!
Final Words
So, there you have it. Project Sirius faced some bumps, but it’s bouncing back stronger than ever.
CD Projekt and Molasses Flood are teaming up to deliver an innovative journey into The Witcher universe.
Stay tuned, my fellow adventurers, because this is just the beginning of an epic saga.
