NOVEMBER
The First New Zealand Edition
Of the 52-week photography challenge

It took me a bit more than a month to put together this challenge response as I needed that one image still to finish the piece. It's been just as long since we moved to New Zealand and instead of looking for photographs in my archives for this prompt, I decided to take new ones.
So here is my New Zealand Edition Of the 52-week photography challenge. The November edition.
Mirror image
Every morning we drove past the lake which lay there so still and untouched, the surrounding shorelines were mirrored perfectly in the water. And yet, I didn’t dare to ask David to stop and let me take a picture.
Maybe it was meant this way.
Today we were heading into our weekend driving along Hawea Lake, a massive body of water nestled between the peaks of the Southern Alps when David pointed out the reflections on the perfectly flat surface.
"Can we stop here please?"

In My Life
Did you want to see something out of my life?
While I'm officially here to earn some money jumping out of planes, all I can think of is where we'll be hiking next. Walking through the wilderness and exploring New Zealand’s native beech forest is something out of my life.
Something very much taking over my life right now.

Purple Haze
I wanted to get that perfect sunset shot. Or find some purple in the night sky. Some haze or fog? None of it. Nothing. I almost gave up on the purple haze when I stumbled across those purple mountain slopes.
Endless fields of wild thyme are covering the hillsides of Central Otago on the Southern Island. And do you know what? One can cook beautifully with this delicious herb and wildflower.

This Must Be the Place
Our first overnight hiking trip in New Zealand began with lots of excitement and some unknown fear as well. Will we find a place to camp was our biggest worry as we inspected the map beforehand and were wondering if there was some flat ground after the last farmland and before the valley turned into a narrow gorge?
This must be place was exactly what I was thinking when I saw this clearing. Right next to the river. What a perfect spot to camp.

In The Heat of The Night
I was thinking of sharing a picture of a fire. At night. I got plenty of those taken somewhere in Africa. But this was supposed to be an exclusive New Zealand edition and while the fire ban isn't active yet, the country will soon announce again the fire danger level not allowing any flames outdoors.
So what other heat can you find in the night? A tent lit up by a torch and warmed through two bodies? I guess that can be called some heat of the night, I'd say.

And yes, while finishing this post, our first month is ending, and I'm wondering how I will be able to say goodbye to this place in a few months.
