NOVEMBER
Scurrying to Finish this 52-Week Challenge
The clock is ticking!

It’s not from a lack of motivation or desire to keep up with this photographic challenge that Rodrigo S-C, the creator, maestro, and guru of the Full Frame publication started on January 1. It’s me and my life.
I have hot and cold moments of writing. When I’m busy at work, my brain is dead by the end of the day. I was travelling. Time zones, jetlag…you know the deal.
All the while, this challenge is in the back of my mind. Yes, some months have stumped me. Did you notice I haven’t completed the months of March, April and September? I think I’ve now got them covered — so this is one of possibly four quick submissions. Sorry, editors!
Now, on with November’s requirements:
#44 Mirror Image
My nearby park always offers something photographic. However, it is rare to get a perfectly calm day and an equally perfect reflective shot.

#45 In My Life
Earlier in the year, I went to three live concerts within a very short space of time. As I usually do, I took a heap of photos — and many of them turned out to be duds.
This particular day I looked at my phone after doing a major delete session and this colourful display of a bunch of photos snapped at the Odesza concert met my eyes. I was enchanted with it not only because of its beauty en masse but because it represented my love of music. Seeing a favourite band live is one of the most incredible experiences.
My significant other in my life — and one that I couldn’t bear to do without — is music.

#46 Purple Haze
Down by the canal during summer, there was a magical display of purple wildflowers, reportedly New England Asters.
This little yellow butterfly — a Clouded Sulphur or Colias philodice — was furiously flitting from flower to flower feeding on their nectar. I was happy it settled for more than ten seconds for me to take this photo.

#47 This Must Be the Place
Lake Wanaka, New Zealand. The place of many wonderful childhood memories.
A place I hope to spend more time in before I snuff it.
The place where I want my ashes scattered.

#48 In the Heat of the Night
I’ve dozens of photos of incredible sunsets taken from my apartment. I love this one because of the vast array of colours and the reflective effect on the puddles in an otherwise ugly carpark.

I’m in awe of other photographers who have been participating in this challenge. From Rodrigo S-C, Lauri Novak, and kasey sparks — the Full Frame editors — to ‘old’ and ‘new’ participants.
Check out the work of these talented photographers who have submitted stories to the challenge… Xine Segalas, Pockett Dessert, Michael Agrios, Jesse R Baker, John Keeler, Dr Preeti Singh… there’s likely more so please add your name in the comments.
Thanks to the Full Frame team — and yes, we want more for 2024!
