“The Day Before” Was Just Released, but Players Are Not Happy
The Discord server has been shut down and it’s already “Overwhelmingly Negative” on Steam.

I’ve chatted about shooter games before in some other stories, and you can find those linked at the end here. But today, I’m diving into the mess that was the launch of “The Day Before.”
Back in 2021, there was a huge buzz about The Day Before. The trailers made it seem like this cool open-world MMO set in a zombie apocalypse — a dream combo, right?
Fans were stoked, thinking it’d be this awesome mix of survival horror and massive multiplayer action. But when the game dropped on December 7 for early access, reality smacked players in the face.
It wasn’t the open-world MMO they were expecting; instead, it turned out to be more like an extraction shooter. And if that wasn’t bad enough, it was glitchy as heck, had server issues, and just loads of problems all around.
The launch was a total disaster. The game’s official Discord server was bombarded with complaints, bug reports, and angry messages. It got so bad that the mods had to throw in the towel and shut the whole server down.
Imagine generating all this excitement before the release, only to crash and burn so spectacularly once it hit the screens.
People were mad. They flooded the Discord server with all their frustrations. The developer, Fntastic, tried to do some damage control by saying the game wasn’t a scam before it launched.
But even that didn’t help. The mods couldn’t handle the avalanche of negativity, so they slammed the brakes on the server, saying it was necessary because things were way too toxic to handle.
According to PCGamesN, the mods mentioned working on a patch to fix the major issues and squash the bugs. But they didn’t give any clue about when that magical fix would drop.
And get this, since the Discord server was shut down, they asked people to note down any bugs they found on their PCs or DMs, basically anywhere until the server was back up. No timeline for that either. So, it’s like they closed the door on complaints but didn’t say when they’d reopen it.
Final Words
This Discord shutdown was just the latest catastrophe in the saga of The Day Before’s launch. It was hyped big time on Steam, even with all the controversies surrounding its development.
But now, all that hype has turned into pure rage. Who knows how many players are going to stick around for the first patch, whenever that shows up.
