The Daily Cuppa Presents — Postcards To Build Friendships Globally
A new way to share your thoughts in short-form’s 150-words or fewer. A way to share those things we don’t put in our articles.

James Beaufait had an awesome idea to help writers get to know more about each other. We know each other by reading stories and exchanging comments. I don't feel separated by writers by our cultures or countries but by the time zones!
It’s hard to grasp that it’s not snowing everywhere in the world when the snow has piled so high up my doors that I can't get out to shovel. James was thinking the same thing and sent a postcard to all of us.
I struggled to know how to introduce his concept properly.
Then, as I read K. Barrett’s story and the spirit of James’ idea inspired me anew.
Current events are an indicator that we need to stay in touch with nature. We need to stay in touch with humanity. K. Barrett
We are human, and we are so similar. I’ve had family and friends who live far away all my life. I wished they live closer, but one thing that made me feel involved with their day-to-day lives was the letters and postcards.
Connection, connection, connection, is how we will all weather our storms together on the ground and in life. James Beaufait

Share Friendship, A Sentiment
Here is a postcard Adrienne Beaumont sent to The Daily Cuppa writers sharing about the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the heat.
Here is one I. Trudie Palmer wrote to all her followers about how bad she felt about not getting to all her notifications. We all feel it. Just write Trudie.
How To Write A Short-form Postcard
Those of us who tested it out like beginning with:
Postcard from _________to ___________ and comment about weather or sentiment and the date.
In the olden days, we’d jot the date and a bit about the weather. Gossip and tidbits about daily life were shared on postcards.
Here are some examples shared about the weather.
Adrienne Beaumont dropped one to all of us about the rain in Australia.
Barb Dalton responded from Canada.
I just had to jump in.
Barb got back to me.
Isn’t that fun? And they take less than five minutes as they’re just off the top of the head.
Tag For Postcards?
That’s tricky. Just use postcards.
Simple Is The Best Way To Share Globally
We don't need to expect responses. Often we just want to say we’re sorry or happy or whatever.
Here is one sent to a friend who was grieving on her deceased father’s birthday. It speaks to many of us. I didn’t put the date or weather on it, as it was an expression of sorrow that could resonate any time of the year.
In this one, Adrienne is making us suffer. Flaunting her pool while we’re buried in snow. Such fun. It’s just the sort of chat friends do. A bit of teasing and lots of laughing. I want a pool!
I wrote back.
Who To Send Them to
Here are some sent to general delivery. A way to communicate our daily concerns and celebrations without writing a story.
Adrienne Beaumont wrote this one to all of us to celebrate Australia Day. I love that as I know when the 4th of July is, but that’s it. We can celebrate together this way.
Here’s one James Beaufait wrote with a recipe.
Here is another one from James responding to a question I had.
Here is one I sent sharing a Medium story I thought James would like. You can see it’s rather rumbly. But that’s how I am — if you come to tea.
Now Go Have Fun Writing Postcards
I hope you’ll join us in this exciting way to build our friendships globally. I feel really close to so many writers on Medium and this is a way to understand more about where they live.
This is a fun new way to share your thoughts in short-form’s 150-words or fewer. It’s also another way to spread joy and kindness. A way to share those things we don’t put in our articles.
Thank you for stopping by and spending time with me. I hope you enjoyed these postcards.

When I write stories that feature The Daily Cuppa writers, I dedicate the article to one of them as the story would not exist without their work. None of the writers featured in this piece promote Medium memberships.
So I’m going to dedicate this one to Susan Alison who shares her original art in her Cuppa stories and writes about how to paint with watercolor in her publication https://medium.com/how-to-paint-in-watercolour . Learn to draw at https://medium.com/how-to-draw with her easy guidance.
She has painted sunflowers for our dear friends in the Ukraine. Find her books and art here:

If you’re not a Medium member and would like to join so you can read as many stories as you want, it is my wish that you use Susan’s affiliate link. She will get a portion of your monthly fee of $5 US.
