Summary

A group of playful writers known as "The Crew" has been creating and sharing new words, or neologisms, that they believe should be part of the English language, reflecting modern experiences and emotions.

Abstract

The Crew, a collective of writers, has embarked on a creative endeavor to craft new words that capture contemporary sentiments and situations. They have coined terms such as "Pectbar," "Egogreedamus," and "Socialvert," each with its unique definition, to fill gaps in the English lexicon. The group encourages others to join in the fun of language creation, sharing their inventions in a series of articles on Medium. These writings explore the playful and practical aspects of neologisms, suggesting words like "Intentful" for determination and "Donosay" for imagining obstacles. The Crew's contributions to this lexical challenge are documented in various Medium posts, showcasing their collaborative effort to enrich the language with words that resonate with everyday life and human behavior.

Neologisms for today

We’re the Crew and we’ve jumped into the deep end.

As a writer, I’m fascinated by words and always love to discover a new one. I belong to a fun group of playful writers and we’ve been creating words that should exist.

It’s a lot of fun and we’d love it if you jump in and play with us.

Eli Snow , Daniel G. Clark , Tree Langdon ♾️, Eashan Reddy Kotha, Paroma Sen, Keno Ogbo, James G Brennan Uchechi Obasi, Timothy Key

Without further adieu, here are today’s fantastic new words:

Pectbar

The place on a man’s chest directly above the heart, where a woman can comfortably place her head when she needs a soft place to rest.

Egogreedamus

No praise is ever enough for this person.

Searchmanic

The incessant search for something one already has. Also referred to as Lookundersomething.

Socialvert

A person who has many qualities of an introvert, as well as social butterfly. The word for the condition is Socialversion.

Intentful

Full of intention to complete the task assigned.

Donosay

The ability to see obstacles where there are none.

Here is an up-to-date collection of quirky and creative responses to this challenge.

Daniel coined Waitag, which I’m guilty of. Waitag is for the times when you’ve been prompted to respond to an article but leave them hanging for a long time.

Uchechi shared the useful word Slurt, for the friend that cannot keep secrets and blurts them out.

James coined Powgry, a great word for power hungry.

Keno coined Aweshortsome for feeling awesome while selling yourself short just in case the other person does not think so.

Tree coined Classifried for fried food eaten in a classy restaurant.

Paroma shared Confoundium, the state of distraction brought on by multitasking.

Eashan shared the word Foodspire, to describe sweating while eating spicy food.

Eli Snow coined Neglecticle for that forlorn article of clothing in your closet.

Timothy provided us with Dipnoodle, a G rated curse word.
