The Continuum We All Live With

Change. Day 1: Thursday, October 6: Change

Fall flowers photo by Gabriella October 2022

Challenge on change inspired by E. Katherine Kottaras.

Change is happening continuously in our lives. Everything changes from moment to moment inside our bodies and outside in our environment. We grow, we age, we sleep, we work, and we play. We have continuous information coming through our senses that helps us change what our following actions in life be.

Will you call a friend? Go for a walk? Are you tired and taking a nap? Play with family and friends? Are you hungry and ready to bake that delicious dish you have been dreaming about?

What will your next step be in this continuously changing life?

One-line poetry/prose inspired by Amanda Laughtland and B.R. Shenoy.

Change

A continuous line going toward an unknown destination keeps you wondering

What will the next turn bring toward this unexpected humanoid creature,

Living their lives in an unstructured cycle of not knowing if their next step

Merging toward a destination envisioned in their mind

Will bring them up or down in the ever-changing road of their existence.

GK

The way of a writer’s life when you start to read and engage on Medium and Twitter.

The way I got to Amanda Laughtland’s story was by posting a Tweet of Lola Rosario story about the The Laughter of Children and seeing a post from Dr. Preeti Singh that led me to a post from B.R. Shenoy where she was answering a challenge called Our Relationships With Our Loved Ones and tagged a story by TzeLin Sam and after reading her story of Charms I read another story that was recommended by TzeLin Sam from Monika Sharma and her article: What is in that phone you have your eyes and mind stuck at? looped me into checking out the work of Shereen Bingham and her interesting article: Can you pack a story into 10 words.

Then Monika Sharma’s story looped me going back to the original Challenge from Amanda Laughtland. Later finishing B.R. Shenoy’s story I realized that Amanda Laughtland was also tagged in that story, yet my reading took me around in a long way to get to the original challenge writer inspiring my change poem.

I am grateful that I got to read some lovely writing pieces from the above writers.

You can find Amanda Laughtland’s original challenge below:
