WALKING ROUTE 66

The Amazing Power of Self-Talk

Words have meaning, and energy; use them wisely.

Rest and Relaxation

After deciding to skip the 5.5 miles of I-55, day 3 was, more or less, a day of rest.

We tossed the shoes that were a gift, and I put my Dr. Scholl’s walking shoes on as Nadir dropped me off where Joliet Road separated from I-55, around noon. I know, really smart, right?

The plan was to cut the next day’s walk by about five or six miles since they wanted to take me out to lunch before setting me loose.

Discovering self-healing

Nadir’s wife Shehla.

As I walked, the discomfort in my toes was very pronounced but not as bad as with other shoes. At one point, I recalled the newsletter from Judith Morgan I had earlier that morning.

She was talking about how she never considered herself a healer until she read something from Dr. Wayne Dyer that said that we all have the ability to heal within ourselves. The thought sent an instant wave of energy down my spine. I could feel the spring back in my steps.

I have always known it intuitively that medicine may speed up the process, but it is our thoughts and beliefs that do the healing.

A challenge and a gift.

Recently, I wrote out a vision for my life longhand in my journal inspired by my friend and fellow writer Trista Ainsworth, who shared her vision earlier this month and challenged her readers to do the same.

A few days later, she announced her intention to publish a post every day for the next 100 days, and again challenged us to join her. I was tempted, but, didn’t feel as if I was ready. Now I know why. My higher self had a better plan.

As I revisit Walking Route 66, I can see all the lessons, some of which I have incorporated in my life and some which I have missed. Just as Trista is examining her inner self, I am too.

The world is changing, no; it has changed, and we are experiencing inner growth. A lot of us are consciously aware of it and pursuing it intentionally, while others may not be conscious, but are experiencing it, nonetheless.

I am looking forward to rediscovering some lessons while unearthing some for the first time. I also know that each lesson has multiple layers and we notice them as we advance spiritually.

This will be an exciting excavation project (can I call it a project, Holly?).

I invite you to tag along if you’re up to it. I am tagging a few friends who I think will be interested.
