How to Join Illumination-Curated
We are inviting you to submit your curated stories whenever you wish to. You have to follow these five easy steps.
Once we add you as an approved writer, you can submit your first draft. But you cannot send a second draft until the editors decide the fate of the first one. It takes almost seven working days to process the new drafts because of the heavy burden of new submissions as the visitors and writers of the publication are doubling in number with every passing day.
Dr Mehmet Yildiz— the owner of Illumination — has done it again. Illumination-Curated is going to be an even bigger success story.
Many writers are getting a strong second wave of views. There is a lot of valuable guidance about the new publication.
Curation is the focus of the new publication. Follow these steps, and it should be a piece of cake to submit your masterpiece to Illumination-Curated:
Step 1: Apply as a writer
Apply to become an approved writer. This process can take up to three working days.
When Illumination adds you as a writer, you’ll see Illumination-curated in your list of publications:

You can also apply to be a writer with a draft link of using this form. If the editors like the quality of your work, you’ll be added as a writer.
Step 2: Find your curated stories
Find a curated story in your stories. It is usually easy to spot the curated ones as they have this additional ‘topic tag’ on top of your story stats.

Click on View story here to open the article to proceed.
Step 3: Remove the curated story from the publication
If your story is already published in Illumination publication, remove it from there. While editing the article, click on the three dots ‘…’ and select Remove from publication.

Step 4: Add your story to Illumination-Curated
Now, you have to add your story to Illumination-Curated. In the edit mode, click on the three dots ‘…’ and select Add to publication.

Choose Illumination-Curated from the drop-down menu, and click ‘Select and continue.’
Step 5: Wait — for the story to get published
Now the hard part: wait.
For curated stories
Curated stories are generally accepted and added to the publication within 24 hours. Please don’t forget to provide the link to your curated pieces on the Slack channel for curated stories.
For drafts
However, the procedure takes more time for drafts. It can take up to seven days. As soon as the voting process — on the Slack channel for polls — is complete, we add your story to the publication.
It is a transparent process. Nobody is allowed to go against the high editorial standard required for inclusion in the Illumination-Curated.
But if Medium does not curate your story, the story remains published on the Illumination-Curated despite the decision of the Medium curators. Generally, the articles accepted by the editors are also curated by Medium curators.
Story resubmission after curation
If the majority of editors vote against your story, but it gets curated by Medium — it can happen at times — you can resubmit the article. This time the editors are bound to accept your story.
If we like your story
Sometimes, one of our editors may read your story and like it so much that they wish to publish it in Illumination-Curated. In such a case, they’ll leave this kind of private note on your story. It can happen in the case of your curated stories as well.
