[1] What do you love most about the experience of writing?
I’ve been asking this question to every new writer who follows me on twitter and it’s been so rewarding to see everyone’s responses! That’s why I wanted to include it in this interview too.
For me, what I like most is getting to see the words on the page. As someone who has a strength in visual information processing but weakness in auditory information processing, getting to see my thoughts helps me process and experience them far better than what happens when they swirl around like unruly puppies in my brain.
[2] What’s your favourite candy?
I actually recently went for some back to school shopping (read: stationery haul) and the stores have already begun their Halloween promotions! You’d best believe that I bought myself a pack of chocolates designed for trick-or-treaters.
My favourite candy is likely Aero bars, if chocolate bars count as candy.
If chocolate doesn’t “count” as candy, then I’d have to say that I love the caramel candies from Werther’s Original. I always have a few in my purse for a myriad of reasons.
[3] What’s the story behind one of your scars?
I actually don’t have any scars to the best of my knowledge. As a kid, I used to have a scar on my left leg from tripping over one of those dollar-store wire garbage cans that broke and scraped the side of my leg. But, as I grew the scar shifted and faded from the front of my thigh to the side of my thigh and now it just doesn’t exist anymore.
Oh, and as I write this, I remember — I also have a scar from a vaccination I got as a kid, likely for TB. Apparently, this is a mark that only people who were born in specific countries have because Canadian kids do not get this vaccination.
[4] What is something you can never seem to finish?
MY DRAFTS. I begin far more drafts for Medium than I ever finish, and that’s something I continue to work on! Any tips are welcome!
[5] What would you do on a free afternoon in the middle of the week?
If I had a free afternoon in the middle of the week, I would put on a podcast or audiobook and just organize and clean up my place. My hectic schedule often means I barely keep up on the basic cleaning schedule so that my place is functional, but often clutter or mess still builds up. I can’t describe the feeling of joy I get from just restoring my place to a less cluttered status.
You know, as a kid, I never would have thought that I would become this boring kind of adult. Now that I am an adult, I just take whatever tiny joys I can get! Like perfectly seasoned soup, getting 8 hours of sleep without hurting my neck, and neatly folded laundry. ❤

- Favourite kind of pen? Inky, about 0.50 to 0.70mm
