Nocturnal emissions are any semen retention practitioner’s worst nightmare.

You are on a long streak only for a sexy dream to play itself out physically while you sleep.

They rarely happen to me now (which you find out why) but when I was a young teenager, embarrassingly my mom, who washed my sheets and pjs, also knew when they happened.

The low down

Put your wet dreams into a healthy context by shifting how you view them.

Am I normal?

Wet dreams are normal. They show you are born to procreate. There is no need to be embarrassed or to feel ashamed.

By being a man, you will create semen.

Life is about Perception

Don’t allow yourself to go into a crocodile “death roll” and spiral down into a dark place.

If you see wet dreams as a negative, then you need to reframe the experiences. Accept it has happened and study how to prevent it. Then put this into action.

Semen retention

Stating the obvious here but being a serious semen practitioner, you understand why you don’t want to release the seed.

There are physiological changes that we are trying to avoid.

In addition to a loss in energy and essential vitamins and minerals from the body.

#3 Practical action

The theory is great, but at the heart of a semen retention practice is the application of techniques.

This is not a test, evacuate the building

A loaded bladder is the cause of wet dreams. Before retiring to bed, answer the calls of nature. If there is severe constipation and the bowels are loaded, they will press the vesiculae seminalis, and consequently, there will be discharges at night.

Swami Sivananda

Food and liquid consumption are important pillars in life that need careful attention. This is essential when lowering the number of wet dreams.

A full bladder puts pressure in, and around the groin, causing inadvertent pressure that may cause stimulation.

Avoid liquid consumption after 6.00 pm and, if possible, empty the bladder before sleep.

On your back

When you go to sleep, if possible, sleep on your back. Because when sleeping on your stomach, there will be pressure from your body onto your penis, which will cause potential arousal.

Another option I have found is to sleep on your side with your top bent at the knee and resting on the bed. Having the top knee bent will prevent your body from rolling down onto your penis.

No cell but not what you think

Sex sells everything and sex kills

— Joni Mitchell

When you go on your cell late in the evening, whether you are on Facebook, Insta or even scrolling the internet (advertising on websites), you are going to sexy images of women.

This will increase the likelihood of you getting an erection, which may lead to masturbation.

Turn off your phone an hour before bed and put it on charge in any room besides your bedroom.

I do this and it works. It will take some time to get used to, so go slowly.

Pranayama

Pranayama is breathing exercises that use the lungs to circulate, prana around the body. Prana, is a Sanskrit word meaning life force.

In the first few years of my semen retention practice, it was a daily pranayama practice that I considered the most important foundational practice for my success in non-ejaculation.

Porn is bad news for even those that don’t practice semen retention. But for those that do, it takes you directly to La petite mort (the little death.)

I developed a disastrous habit in my early 30s.

If I couldn’t get to sleep, then I would turn my cell on and masturbate to pornography. It got to a point where I couldn’t get to sleep if I didn’t carry out my ‘porn ritual.’ You may be the same.

Pornography changes the way you connect with women, your body, sexual energy, and a very long list of other debilitating ailments. But there are ways out.

New masturbation

Rewire what sexual pleasure is through self-pleasuring (masturbating) for 10 -25 minutes.

This practice teaches the body to realize ejaculation is not the goal. The goal is enjoyment and pleasure.

Lifestyle choices

Semen retention is a practice that can be easily integrated into your life. That, over time, will drift into the background.

But at the start, it takes time and practice.

Life purpose

Every man needs a life purpose. The major benefit of a semen retention practice is the conservation of energy is directed into other life pursuits.

It took me over 30 years to “find” my life’s purpose.

How to find your life’s purpose:

  1. It will be something that you already know or have done before. It will not be something new to you.
  2. Lower your expectations of how it will be to do this activity. It will not always be easier. You will need to work hard. You will fail more than you succeed. You will not make $1 million from it 1 year from now.
  3. Make a list of all the things you like (not necessarily love) to do now and when you were a kid. And another list of things you are good at. Your life purpose will be in the intersections of these 2 lists.
  4. Clean up your trauma around something you have always wanted to do but were too scared.

My life’s purpose has been found in writing.

When I was in middle school, my mom come home from a stressful day at work in ripped into me about my ‘pathetic’ essay on Mahatma Gandhi, which I so proudly presented to her. I didn’t write for pleasure for another 35 years.

Transmute your sexual energy

Sex transmutation is simple and easily explained. It means the switching of the mind from thoughts of physical expression to through of some other nature.

—Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

You learn to think differently when you have incorporated your semen practice into your lifestyle.

Women are no longer seen as objects for sexual titillation.

My main practice now is when an unwanted sexually charged thought enters the mind. I immediately shift my attention to either:

  1. Mindful breathing.
  2. Tell myself to stay in the present moment.
  3. Take from my senses what is in my present environment.
  4. This immediate shift in attention will lower your sexual arousal level.

In this way, there is little, arousal of sexual energy. This practice takes a lot of time and awareness. The most subtle practices are always the most powerful and simple.

Concluding thoughts

Use wet dreams as a means to deepen your semen retention practice. Wet dreams happen only happen when there is a build-up of semen, therefore your practice must be on the right track.

Embrace and re-establish yourself back in your foundational techniques. And once again start to see and enjoy the benefits of a semen retention practice.
