Abundant Future
Self-Sufficiency, Interbeing and Laughing out Loud
My mind is like a skippy ball. Seriously pondering while hearing birdsong. Laughing out loud comes next. Illumination feeds it all.

My writing is kind of serious, most of the time. Working out ways how to transition to a more beautiful world together. To create an abundant future of love, kindness, and food for all.
But often, I get fed up with myself and just wanna have fun…
Well, the skippy ball mind I developed over the years, helps me create it all. Jumping around for a bit. And then settling into quiet space and time to let the puzzle pieces click in place. Laughing out loud comes next.
The publication Illumination, of which I’ve been a part for the past 2 months, provides joyful food for my skippy ball mind. Let me explain how it works for me.
Self-sufficient Economy
I read this wonderful poem by Breanna Lowman. About the lie of self-sufficiency and the truth of interbeing.
I enjoyed it tremendously. Thanks, Breanna!
After the last words are eagerly digested, my mind jumps.
I think about the times talking about creating an economy based on self-sufficiency and basic needs.
My mind takes me back to the beginning of this year. Bali. The island so dependent on tourist money but not growing its own food.
This is what I told Bali.
You don’t have to be dependent! You can embrace regenerative farming. Unleash the abundance of nature. Create a vibrant economy of basic needs and then invite the tourists you WANT to welcome…
Birdsong
The wondering starts. Is this a good thing? Or do Breanne’s wise words stretch out to the economy as well?
I do tell people that community sense is the best economic factor you can unleash. That’s shedding self-sufficiency on a smaller scale.
Creating vibrant economies in smaller groups. Buying each other’s products, made with love and care. Fulfilling our basic needs with them.
My mind jumps again.
Caring
Sharing
Creating
Key-words in my stories. Let’s be co-creators of our more beautiful world. Let’s not just be consumers. Get out there. Take risks. It’s up to us to make a difference.
Jump.
And then I read the words of my friends Amy Marley and Livia Dabs and I realize that so many women like us (yes, the doubting, self-questioning ones are mostly women) are still in our self-made prisons. We think we need to be perfect.
I was there.
And I failed.
I was never good enough.
Jump. Space for the outer world arises.
The birdsong comes in. The blackbirds, doves, and wagtails always remind me that we’re interbeings.
I spot the squirrels in my small garden, think about the picture I took in the woods nearby and I smile.

One more jump.
Laughing out Loud
My mind settles. I don’t have to change the world every minute of my day. I can relax. Nature does most of the work, anyway. Interbeing and just acting when Gaia thinks I should is good enough.
The writing flows more beautifully when I’m relaxed anyway.
Reading Charles Roast is always a blessing. I just read his (hairy-her?) interview by Dr Mehmet Yildiz and laughed out loud.
I get the urge to read some more of Holly Jahangiri, comment to her well-written stories, and displace some ‘-s in the process. LOL. Being non-native gives me the privilege to make mistakes, doesn’t it?
Jump
Oops, there goes my perfectionism out the window…
I’m motivated to read some more Sherry McGuinn and be inspired by this wannabe rockstar who never fails to make me smile.
Fiction
Illumination really moves something in me. I just read this great fiction story by a published author I hadn’t come across yet, Ann K Frailey.
And I’m mesmerized! This is writing with a capital W.
And the amazing thing is, instead of making me feel awed and never able to be in one league with a writer like this, I get inspired to write more.
And better.
My own words.
My unique perception of the world.
So I jump to my own writing.
Polyglot Poetry
Today I published my first polyglot poem.
Thank you, Kevin Buddaeus, Salam Khan and others, for creating this space for our multi-language words. Anyone who has the urge to write in more languages than just English, check it out.
Polyglot Poetry was born out of Illumination creativity and is home now for many poets from all around the world.
Thank you ICO and Manasi Diwakar for making me feel at home here and good enough…
And Elisabeth Khan, you might want to comment on the Dutch version? You know, as well as I do, that some things are created in our mother tongue first.
Inspired by Charles Roast, the next endeavor might be writing humorous pieces.
Don’t know if I ever dare to publish. But if anyone can make me feel like daring, it’s you, my friends on Illumination!
One last jump.
Home.
I’m good enough.
I have friends who appreciate me.
Relax and laugh out loud!
And if you want to connect, you can always find me on LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter. Or somewhere laughing out loud on my porch, listening to the birdsong…
